This has been sitting in my "Watch Later" list for nine years. It took me that long face my failure and move forward. Failure is hard and instructive. It is absolutely an option in this life. Take a breath. Learn. Change course if necessary. Failure is not the end. Keep moving forward. One step at a time. Be encouraged.
I went from a 3.66 to a 3.2 and my GPA at the university i ended up on academic probabtion was a 1.1 and i brought it up to a 1.8 but still 2 points away from being off academic probation but havent been back to school in 4 years so i still remain on academic probation to this day
I was dismissed from my teaching program because of a teacher I was working called me autistic after disclosing to her I had a learning disability. My learning disability is not related to autism. She reported me to the program that I said heinous things to her and they program believed her because she was a woman. I appealed to the program and department chairs and was still denied. I then went to a board facilitated by a few professors and students. I was readmitted against the program's decision of removing me. Though I was readmitted, I still faced retaliation from the department. I never looked at that school the same way again and never care to revisit it.
I am was on probation for a while now and my last year's semester I passed all my classaes but I failed in one of my classes for last semester now I was givien a letter by the school district saying I was in disculification.
It’s summer..I happened to check my portal to accept a roommate request and found out that I’m disqualified(I didn’t even receive an email) I want to dispute it because I lost family and battling with my own mental health but I also feel drained out with all this college stuff to the point where I don’t think it’s worth it. I know I need to be straight up with my mom and tell her but I’m really scared to disappoint her. I’m disappointed..I can’t even imagine how disappointed she would be.
I currently have to withdraw in my second term and besides the terror and anxiety I felt before now I realized I really have to fix this. Thanks for the helpful words
My professor graded my first assignment a C, but both quiz and assignment he used to get the result were an A. I don't understand how an A turned into C?? I send an email, and waiting for the response. The lawyer inside of me isn't backing up from this case.
Some countries, they give their instructors the power to give extra marks if that benefits to the students and it is very important because many students are failing of a course without just having 10 more points. They have to repeat that course or some time pay also again. That is painful experience.
I withdrew from my math, 100 class in college, because the concepts are getting harder and harder as I progressed to the course. I was learning about radical expressions, but then having to learn new symbols and learn how to put them in the computer as a blind person is very, very hard. I’ve never had to work with online math before. I felt like that was the best option to withdraw from the class so that I wouldn’t have to focus on the hard concepts, and finish out my other classes.
i was academically dismissed from sfsu my second year as a transfer student and I felt horrible. I transferred out at the start of Covid shutdown so it was a really difficult time to focus on my studies. i decided to go back this semester but was dropped from my courses due to missing a financial payment. again this made me feel like a failure. its difficult being compassion with myself when there are so many expectations from my family. I’ve watched this video multiple times and every time I watch it, it gives me the courage to continue on despite the setbacks. for anyone who is or has experienced this, be proud of yourself and give yourself some grace. it’s a journey, not a race.
I’ll never forget: History was my best subject in high school. I didn’t even have to study because in some cases I studied for the fun of it. One girl she was HORRIBLE at it. She failed her last 3 tests and on the final exam she needed to pass it. So we collaborated she sat next to me and I told her if I hold one finger up the answer is A if I hold up 2 fingers answer is B if I hold up 3 fingers answer is C etc. After we both passed the teacher told us to stay after class. She asked us why we had the same answers. I told her word for word “We because we had the same questions” she DID NOT like that. She Asked us “Did you 2 cheat?” I told her “What makes you think we cheated exactly? If you have no evidence of us cheating this won’t hold up” she said “I believe you did because she has failed last 3 tests and she’s not done well at all on the rest of the tests around the year and suddenly you’re an expert?” I told her “Ms. Jackson you have no reason to believe we cheated. I could’ve tutored her, she could’ve studied like me. Did you see us talking to each other” she mumbled “No” “Did you see us show our paper?” She exhaled “No” “Do you have any significant evidence that we cheated other than the fact we have the same answers? You don’t even have the supporting facts that we have the same mistakes to support this accusation.” She exhaled and said “I have no evidence but I believe you 2 did” and I told her “Well we didn’t and you will not prove otherwise I promise!” She shook her head and told us we were dismissed. Before we left I told her “One more thing Ms. Jackson you need to have bigger faith in your students! The fact you believed that she would fail the final exam just because of her history just shows how little faith you have in your students and if you don’t believe in that then maybe you shouldn’t be a teacher” her eyes went wide and her face got red.
Currently an engineering student that thought he was in the clear. Just got a notification that I'm on continued probation which will block me from the courses unless i get a massive exception with my last reach meeting with my advisor. I don't know how to feel but I'll hopefully be able to piece this mess together again.
@@parulhedau8168 I did actually. The advisor said she hasn't seen this big of a comeback in a while and that I can bring this right back with one more solid semester. I have a whole new second wind with that lol. Thanks for asking man.
Yup, my daughter was just dismissed and I am devastated. All the money I saved as a single parent wasted. Her GPA is destroyed and a year of her life lost.
I was dismissed after 3 years at a top university. Could always be worse, get her to attend CC and boost her GPA to reapply with proof of satisfactory performance or apply to other colleges. Not the end of the world
Ive been academically dismissed twice and I'm outearning the majority of my former classmates. Just like you said. Work ya butt off. You definitely are NOT a failure if you've recently been academically dismissed.
My local community colleges only accept 2.0 I'm at a 1.75, where else can I go or just talk to my advisor. I passed my 2 classes while on probation I just didn't have time to take another course to make it above 2.0 but I really want to try now.
I just started my final semester and it’s the 3 hardest courses. I thought I can handle it but it’s already the first week and now I’m contemplating withdrawing from a course. I prioritize my mental health and i really wanted to graduate but these assignments are hard and long. Today I almost broke down crying just for the sheer assignments I have to complete in 1 week.
Thank you for sharing your story I can relate I go to Johnson Wales University I'm a sophomore equine business management major and I don't know if you're familiar with that University but the equine industry has been around for forty years at that school and unfortunately it's closing down in 2025 and I'm a sophomore and I've been having some personal issues outside of college financially cause I commute and it's really hard because I took a semester off because of financial reasons I had to work some speak with my advisor what opportunities are there because if I take the semester off and won't be allowed back because of major error would no longer be there so I'm on thin ice right now.
hi im sorry to bother but I have a question regarding fafsa. I have fin aid and I am taking two classes anatomy 1 and chem 113. it is challenging and not passing anatomy. I plan to drop this. I completed my associates in early education and my gpa is a 3.6 right now. the deadline is tomorrow and they gave me an option to drop both classes nov 12. what do you recommend i do?
The problem is that you don't know how bad it gets until after the 4 weeks are up. That's how colleges trap you. What's worse is that if you don't have a solid grasp or a good performance, they rarely let you out without some sort of excuse.
I'm 7yrs late to the comments but I'm glad I yt recommend this video to me. I've been on probation and am close to being dismissed so I stepped away from school. My poor mental health was making school next to impossible, and even though I stepped away it hasn't helped because now I feel like a failure. Thus video and these comments made me feel a bit better, it's always good to know you're not alone.
This video is really uplifting, I just got a letter from my community college that I’ve been academically dismissed, but luckily I’m still enrolled in 2 summer classes that could hopefully pull up my gpa
man, I remember watching this vid precisely around this time last year crying and being depressed because I was on the verge of being academically dismissed. Fast forward a year after dealing with both academic prohibition and dismissal, and now I'm going to be finished with my associate degree in 2 months, and my GPA has been improving like never before. The point of the matter is, to try and never give up hope. If you don't try to give in your dismissal letter, you'll never know if you will get back in or not. And chances are, there is a 90% chance the university will allow you to get back in. And if not, there are way more options to choose and succeed in life. Like going to a different college, or even doing trade school, etc. YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE IN LIFE REMEMBER THAT. YOU WILL SUCCEED ONE WAY OR ANOTHER I PROMISE!!!!
I have a serious question how did you drop classes and also take more classes at a school you were already dismissed from ( its sounds like you're shopping at a store at 11pm even though they close at 8pm)
The reason students cheat is because they are lazy. They have a deplorable work ethic and they have this sense of entitlement that says they can get something for nothing!
