🏁 ABOUT ME People call me Del, I have a 9th gen Honda Civic and a Lotus Elise that I try to track regularly with NASA, SCCA, and other organizations. I stream sim racing and make videos! I play iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Gran Turismo 7, and Forza Motorsport mainly with my Fanatec GT DD Pro setup!
I bought myself a second GT steering wheel. I put a QR1 and magnetic shifts. But then I sold it because it was too small. But the other day I was playing Gran Turismo and I needed a small wheel to replicate what I was driving. Now I’m buying another one back again -_____-
Dang, they stuck that cone on the inside of 4 about exactly where you'd want to clip. Nice gains though, a second is nothing to sneeze at on the same tires/power.
Not really but then again I haven't taken it out yet for hard braking, just daily driving. I will give you an accurate update after the next track day!
Gonna pair this with a Momo MonteCarlo 380mm wheel. My Boxster, my wife's WRX has the same wheel diameter, I am using GT7 with VR for driving IRL cars with a manual shifter. My issue with the clubsport and podium universal hubs is that once you add the modular buttons, the arms of the button modules act as a spacer between the wheel and hub, and will have uneven spacing for all 6 mounting screws for the wheel. I do need at least a few buttons to connect and assign the controller to the PS5. The cleanliness is its biggest draw, and the standalone Fanatec wheels with buttons don't come in sizes greater than 320mm. I already have the GT DD Extreme wheel that came with my Clubsport DD+ bundle, its not bad but the sticks collide with my hand when rotating for opposite lock.
I'm glad you left this comment because I'm now looking for a new round wheel setup. I feel like I've been driving way better with a round wheel than a formula wheel so I want to upgrade from the universal hub. I was hoping the podium hub the move but I need buttons and now Im worried about the spacing
@@downforcedel so, wheel, hub and QR2 arrived last week. 380mm is a big for the CSL universal hub. Shifters are reachable but I have to change grip on the wheel. I am going to use with h-pattern/sequential lever anyway so not an issue for me. The buttons require me to remove one hand from the wheel completely. The Momo Montecarlo has a very shallow "dish" and the wheel wouldn't clear the funky switch, but I used the horn holder/cover that came with the wheel as a spacer and problem solved. The funky switch which acts like the d-pad in game menus is hard to operate because part of the wheel is still in the way, but I can live with that. Once I connect the wheel to PS5, I can use the gamepad for all the menus. The toggle switches on the hub are assigned by default to changing the mini display to select and adjust TC, Fuel mapping etc, so no issues in game. The default mapping of the funky switch is to look left/right/back, but I am in VR, I can just turn my head. Connection is solid, the hub is metal in all the right places.
Nice, I'll definitely follow the series! My biggest complaint about the car is the overheating problem. I've added a secondary radiator and two oil coolers to get rid of it.
I have the csl universal hub v2 bundle with a csl dd (5nm) and I was wondering if you had any recommendations for an F1 wheel. The only rim I could find was the sparco and I was hoping for something higher quality but I don't know if that would require buying a full wheel or not.
The McLaren is f1-ish and is affordable. I do like my formula v2.5 as well but it is pretty pricey. I want to do a review on the clubsport f1 wheel, that looks pretty good too
It's crazy to me that Honda makes some of the BEST manual transmissions, yet they totally cripple them with their shitty OEM fluid. I put some of that ACDelco Synchromesh fluid in my Accord 6-6 and it made it butter smooth compared to the grindy mess it was before.
Nice! The brake thing is still weird. I ran RBF600 for years with no fluid failures, I know you said you got some bubbles out so maybe just an imperfect bleed for the first go-around on this car? Either way, I'd hope some cheap scoops and maybe some pad shims should have it sorted.
I think you’re right. The air in the lines for sure meant something boiled over which is only possible if the pressure isn’t perfect (air present). But for such a low amount of laps it was concerning. The street tires and poor rotor condition also didn’t help with how hard I was overworking the brakes. Gong to try a different pad and fresh blanks next track day and see how that goes.
I think I know why the fluids boiled. It's due to the tires being less grippy than say a 200tw tire like the RT615K+ you put on at the end. Like you end up braking earlier and riding the brakes for longer distances and the brakes end up generating more heat. A buddy had those temp stickers you stick on the calipers and found this out on his Elantra N after tracking it with stock tire (Michelin PS4S) and running RT660s. It's pretty crazy how it works this way instead of the other way around.
The wheel works good for drifting but I do notice that the button clusters do hit my hands once in a while. I think if you really wanted to use it and lose some accessibility to the buttons, you could use a spacer
Thanks for the answer! I use the QR2 base side on my gt dd pro and changed my driving experience drastically. Feels more smoother and no clipping issues. Do u plan on upgrading to the dd+? If u do.. I want to save u the money by just Buying the QR2. Wheel and base side 👍🏼. Many people are dissapointed in this overpowered piece of furniture and wished they just bought the QR2 for their dd pro.
I plan on doing this exact setup, rv6 and q300 exhaust. Probably gonna go kraftwerks supercharger after. I was gonna do merc racing superchargers kit but it cost so much more. Its like 5.2k for the 1320 and another 1500 for their aftercooler. Not as easy to install as kraftwerks also but makes way more torque and is faster.
As the rv6 broke it it got a tiny bit louder but in a good way. The high flow cat and q300 is a good combo. I think thought you might want to go no cat for forced induction but it’s def not as important with an SC vs turbo. Just a little on the raspy side with no cat 🤣. I hear good things about kraftwerks other than the belts
hey nice review, maybe you should/could remark that you are using the ClubSport Wheel Rim 320 with it since I've been looking for this wheel footage and didn't come any searches on youtube. How is it for drifting? it seems it has little gap on the top right and left from the buttons to the wheel arc, do your fingers get stuck if you're countersteering? Cheers!
Ah thanks for the suggestion, I should've mentioned the wheel too. You can kind of shrink it down so you don't get bumped when counter-steering (I know what you mean and it kind of hurts at speed lol) but unfortunately that makes pressing the inner buttons harder. I guess at that point its a balance but at least you have options.
@@downforcedel oh thanks for your quick reply! It's the first time I see some using the same combo I'm considering to buy but when I realized that I will be drifting a lot... Maybe setting it a little more narrow (while still reaching for the paddles)
Hello im a little late to the party but still wanna ask. Will the fanatec 320mm round wheel with V2 universal hub and the metal QR1 be satystfing experience (going from t500rs)
Nice Type R. Sounds like you picked up the perfect used example for track days. These motors are super reliable. Looking forward to seeing more content. Enjoy it.
16:43 Thanks for the shout! Glad you like the shirt, and I definitely know who you are now. I had watched some of your stuff on IG before because when I looked I 100% remembered the Lotus, I didn't connect the dots until later. Great meeting you and you can expect an FK8 cameo here in a day or two once I finish editing 🏎
Those buttons are actually perfectly located, styled, and type for VR. This way you can find them very easily when you can't see it based on feel and location.
I just looked it up and you're right. Based on reddit the QR2 would require the base to be exchanged. I haven't done the conversion over to QR2s yet but kind of bad Fanatec doesn't just let it be swappable. I always figured they were.
Got it all together after some RU-vid and Reddit lol the buttons are pretty good for VR and although the paddle shifters arnt as good they are quite for late night driving! Cheers!
