The whole point of offering a $30 top exterior wash is to make a $50-$60/month unlimited pass seem like a better deal. At retail price their chemistry for the top package probably costs around $2, but Tidal Wave is almost certainly getting a large discount from Sonny's as they are a national account.
Went to this store about 2 years ago and it stays pretty busy. Has a lot of equipment considering the conveyor is only 115' long. Rich's is about to open a 160' tunnel in Mobile at the intersection of Azalea/US90, and they have a Peco tunnel at their Semmes location that you should check out.
@@SFCarWashChannel yeah I have driven past the one at Azelea, and I know about the one at the intersection of Schillinger and Moffet Rd, just this time of the year its downright impossible to get in and out of Mobile with traffic always being backed up for miles. Ill go explore Mobile after tourist season is over. They also have 2 Mod Wash locations as well I want to take a look at.
Thats awsome! How is that Laser Wash 4000 across from the Mobile station just up the road from this one? I have been needing to do a video on that system.
@@CarwashMan18 It’s actually a 360+. Its okay, not the best but not the worst either. 10 years ago it was a Powerrain system, then in 2016 they replaced that with an Older G5 with the pre-maxair dryers, then in 2018 someone hit it and that 360 has been there ever since.
@@hyuga360death Wow! I didnt even hear that beeping. And its likely coming one of those 2 electrical boxes at the entrance end. But the box where you can flip it from "car wash open" to "car wash closed" didnt seem to have any power, however I didnt mess with it to not get myself in trouble with the gas station.
Florida used to have all sorts of these vintage ryko machines everywhere. A handful of r7bs, voyagers and ultracleans made it to the mid 2000s before getting replaced.
That is the Ryko Thrust Pro 1, and yes it could not only move some air, but could move water too! Yes she was indeed a outstanding and old Ryko Voyager and operated for over 30 years. Last I checked on the Ryko Softgloss Maxx that took its place is no longer in service or ababdoned.
That system has probably one of the best undercarriage blasters I have seen in a while. the fact it was spraying water onto the front of my hood from behind is amazing.
true to that statement, although I think Rich's have more colored lighting in their tunnels than this one, but I could be wrong. However, all the lighting is very eye catching.
That's the same Thrust Pro I found paired with a Nustar Comet II at a Best American Car Wash in Michigan! These have got to be the absolute original Thrust Pro Dryers!

Yep! This is the same location from my old channel. Im still waiting for the Nu-star soft touch plus/ Mark VII Aquajet 300 to open up off Highway 29 across from the Ronny's.
I have seen a lot of car wash enthusiests do this sort of thing where they walk through tunnel car washes, however I am not the kind of person that does this sort of thing because I work in a heavily mechanical industry and I know all about how moving parts and machinery are very dangerous and can cause a great amount of harm to people when they least expect it. So unfortunately I wont be doing outside videos at least of tunnel car washes but in bay automatics I could probably do.
Sonny's The Car Wash Factory did a case study on this car wash in Tallahassee, FL in 2015, This location is supposed to have ICS Pay Stations, Magnetic Gates, and a Lava Shield from Simoniz.
Well thank you for the warm welcomed return back to the car wash world, and indeed it was wierd to see the power still on but it was very evidently clear it wasnt working anymore
It will be a while before I start venturing way out to distance car washes as I need to grab all the ones in my nearby areas again, although I promised to go do a re-shoot of the abandoned Ryko Voyager 2 in Tallahassee in December.
I know! It did look in great shape in 2021. Looks like something went wrong with the left side wheel scrubber, and either the part or parts were too expensive or no longer existant.

Oh gosh its been ancient times since I have personally seen a R7B. Probably the one at the chevron in Mobile that had that very short bay Softgloss XS.
@@bpot1927 there was also a BP gas station at the intersection of Cottage Hill Rd and Schillinger Rd that had a R7B with green fillament brushes in the mid 90's and later turned into a Voyager with the same green brushes. The gas station closed down in the early 2000's and turned into a bank that is still there to this day.
@@CarwashMan18 extremely interesting! where im at, we do have a r7b (blue checked scheme,no dryers) at a diamond shamrock.. but of course it is closed forever unfortunately
It really sucks to see this voyager got replaced. My local one is getting replaced soon as its almost always closed now because the owners do the worst job maintaining it and when I went through it back in October it malfunctioned and damaged my car. (I actually got it on video.0 The saddest part is that when I first started going through it it was such a nice wash too. Keep up the great work!@@CarwashMan18
@@bpot1927 Some of them are still around, others have shut down, like the one in Mobile that had the Autec with the Ryko Thrust Pro 2, its now all shut down and sealed up.
Oh that car wash has been long gone for several years. The car wash was removed. the entrance was bricked, and the exit has a small door on it which the old wash bay is now used for storage. @@bpot1927
