Hi Christian here, I stumbled upon this channel and have a few questions about modern-day Judaism. 1: What is the hierarchy of Judaism nowadays. Is it something similar to the Pope in Catholicism?
Why does My Levy live in France rather than in Israel? Did he and his parents not feel scared to live in Europe after WWII? Isn’t that why Israel was created to give safety and sanctuary to the Jewish population of Europe?
Yes, I recognize him. He's a French intellectual who often appears in forums on French TV. I wish he'd address French antisemitism. It has very deep historical roots.
His weird shirt collar bespeaks posy big ego "famous french philosopher" - a very tired cliche that was always more about style than substance. In this video he is talking in a look-at-me way about his new book and how he went to Israel. I have no problem with him going to Israel but wish he had stayed there and just tried to help in a more practical and less self-promoting way. I don't need a "refined" French philosopher to enlighten me about what led to recent events in Israel; it was obvious to anyone with their eyes open. His laughably self-regarding pose as an "intellectual" is on full display on his personal website, including boasts that he was a key player in the release of Gilad Shalit. Yet it was this exchange of one Israeli for 1027 "prisoners" [edited choice of words] including Sinwar, that led directly to the events in October. The likes of Levy and their virtue-signalling over recent decades in pursuit of a delusional peace hugely endangered Israel. But he was blinded by his self-image of "French intellectual liberal celebrity". His publicity photo says it all: the deep thinker, meditating on the meaning of life and single-handedly solving the world's problems .. while also hoping to look cool and sexy despite his advancing years. Joke. [Edited] Compare & contrast this assimilated peacock with the late Rebbe Schneerson who didn't need a philosophy degree to know that "land for peace" was always a doomed policy because you don't ever make peace with a sworn enemy that seeks your total annihilation.
@@kristine8338 "refined" is a nonsense word, especially when it comes to posy French "philosophers". If he were more Jewish and less French, he would be living in Israel.
@@viiccd You're still not saying anything about substance. Your post is limited to name calling ("egotistical" "self-promoting"). I'm still waiting for anything substantive from you.
My granddaughter became Bat Mitzvah yesterday and Rabbi Yael expressed these same sentiments. I cannot understand why Israel has been treated in this fashion and look forward to reading M. Levy's book.
