Many moments of my life seemed to be captured and portrayed perfectly by this composition. This striking, quirky piece by Prokofiev was first heard on a (Moscow) radio broadcast on May Day 1944 as a part of festivities. This performance is better than most. There is a tendency to play this march too quickly, but the speed here seems just about right- 'march' doesn't mean 'run'.
