This Motovlog is about stuff I think about while I'm riding my motorcycle. It seems that I do my best thinking while I'm riding my bike. Most of the stuff I think about is how to navigate through life in a way that minimizes suffering for myself and others. I'm a student of Mindfulness Meditation and Emotional Intelligence. I've been riding motorcycles most of my life, so I've combined those two loves here. I hope you will subscribe and comment so we can build a community of like-minded people who learn together.

A true biker. Not a one day wonder. Grey haired bikers don't get that way by luck alone. Keep the shiny side up mate. Cheers from Australia. 63 and about to go for a ride on my 1500 vtwin.

According to Professor Bob Altemeyer, a lack of Criticality both for one's self and for those who are seen as legitimate authorities is a major trait of those with high Right Wing Authoritarian personalities, also known as Authoritarian Follower personalities. These people are often the foundation of dictatorial regimes and have been linked with the worst atrocities of the 20th century. Most infamously the Einstatsgruppen of the Waffen SS, a unit which executed over two million people during the WWII including 1.3 million Jewish Men, Women and Children on the Eastern Front in WWII has been linked with this personality trait.

I had to laugh when watching this. You say you couldn't even back your FJR into your garage because it's so heavy. I'm almost 75 years old and I ride a Triumph Rocket 3 Touring and I can back it into my garage UPHill with no help and no problem. And as it's setup, it's about 1,000 pounds. A FJR feels like a minibike to me. And I'm not a huge guy - about 6' and 200 pounds. That said, I've always loved Bonnevilles. I spent a year in the late 60s riding all over North America never knowing where I would end up each day on. Bonnebille. It leaked oil badly from the front pushrod tubes that neither I nor Triumph could fix but I still loved it. I'm thinking of buying a new Bonneville and I'm so glad Triumph makes these great classic bikes.

Wow! You're 81 and still riding, great for you. I'm 69 and I'm feeling a bit mortal. I always wanted a Bonneville but I never bought one. I came close once but opted instead for a Sportster as it was belt drive, had a bigger tank and I could get hard, locking bags for it. I retired my Road King in 2019 and bought an Africa Twin to explore a different side of touring. After two years, I sold it and bought a Royal Enfield Himalayan. I have two years on the bike and for the most part I'm happy with it, but last year the bike threw me off and I landed on my back on a rock. I broke two ribs, it was a slow recovery. In Canada we have a lot of gravel roads and ghost towns which I love to explore but sometimes there is a lot of pavement. This summer I rode to Bella Coola which was 1,500 km one way. True, I did about 70 km or gravel on the steepest numbered road in Canada, but still there was a lot of pavement. I'd like to add a Bonneville to my garage.

A great watch thanks Pat. Tuned-in to hear your thoughts on the T120 but enjoyed just as much your musings on the FJR, Harleys and life in general. Lots of respect coming to you from way down the bottom of the South Pacific for still leaning into corners at 81. Fantastic stuff. Long May you continue to ride. Cheers. Blu (New Zealand)👍

Poppa is typically a name for grandfather. Virtual or literal? Many schools back in the fifties and sixties did not have ac even in Texas. Ask Pat if he ever ate magic mushrooms.

81 and still hauling an FJR1300 around . . .that's impressive. I'm 62 and have one also and it is a great bike and for two-up touring fantastic but yes for day-to-day I'd like something lighter. I have a Ninja 400 that both myself and son use and its a fun bike but with a 12,000 rpm redline, not exactly relaxing to ride. I keep looking at the Bonnie's but also like the Z900RS's so at some point will probably acquire one or the other . . . . likely a Bonnie as I light the lazy low revving torquey engines.

Well obviously there are very few people who take this to heart. The internet is full of people who do criticize complain and condemn, in fact they're frequently encouraged by other to do so. We've created a society were people are encouraged to believe that all they need to do to get others to do what they want, is to whine hard enough. It's not wise, it's not brave, it's not noble, it's stupid, stubborn, often selfish and often unconstructive.

Thank you for the beautiful Mother Teresa Story. She was the speaker in 1982 at my Harvard graduation in Harvard Yard - and you could feel the presence of her love pass over the crowd and into individuals (like myself) as she gave her talk. I never got to meet her in person - but I feel blessed to have been in her near presence at that graduation ceremony.

Too nice to ride, exactly why I'm not "restoring" my TR5T, just rebuilding the engine/ gearbox and maybe do a little bit of a touch-up on some parts where rust is. Nice Trumpy, thank for the peek.
