First of all, this is not free climbing, or free soloing, this is scrambling. In the climbing world, we use the YDS, with Class 1 being a trail, Class 2 being boulder hopping or something similar, Class 3 being simple, unroped climbing (scrambling), all the way up to Class 5, which is technical climbing. "Scrambling" refers to non-technical, Class 3-4 terrain. Most people typically don't use ropes until at least Class 4, many not until Class 5. A climb where most people use ropes is "technical," and that is where more advanced climbing terminology starts to get used. And the terrain in this video terrain seems to be at most Difficult Class 3, maybe Easy Class 4 if you stretch it. So not actual technical climbing. "Free climbing" refers to using ropes and protective gear without any real assistance, like using a webbing ladder, which is called "aid climbing;" while "free soloing" refers to not using any ropes or protective gear on technical, 5th class terrain where most people rope up. So, because this terrain is no where near technical, and they are not using ropes, this is not free climbing, or even free soloing. It is scrambling. Also, these folks are really stupid, not having technique or experience, or even helmets or proper scrambling shoes, is a recipe for disaster on more dangerous terrain, as we saw here. If he had landed on his head, because he didn't have a helmet, this fall could have been his last. Stay safe out there.
Did the math, but it can't be accurately measured because he slid and caught himself with his feet on the rocks before freefalling and landing on the one rock. He "fell" for around 1.5 seconds before hitting a rock which is like 36ft if he didn't slide (remove his height 6ft? to get 30ft), then he fell for another 0.83 seconds unimpeded making the total fall 41ft if you remove his body height and don't care about the sliding. He isn't really exaggerating that much and if you don't remove his body height it's about 47ft. HOWEVER, he caught himself with his feet several times before hitting the rock. He was still gaining momentum, but it wasn't a 41ft freefall. More like a slide and his freefall was about 22ft total which is still painful, but far less than 50ft
I know you're getting a lot of comments... I'm sure you knew you'd get them before posting this. But why not mantle off the rock on your right with the right hand instead of trying to do high feet? Way easier to get up that way. Unless you have a lot of climbing experience and good balance you should probably avoid high feet. Super easy to lose your balance and pop off the rocks if you don't know what you're doing. If you're going to go with high feet you need to lean in the opposite direction of the foot you're going high with and establish yourself in the lean before moving your foot. If you try to force your foot higher than you can naturally move it like you did you'll force a lean that you probably aren't ready for because you haven't established yourself.

Dude, free climbing is with a rope 😂😂😂 where’s your rope man? You’re just climbing rocks at this point but I like the end, after you stopped you purposefully threw yourself for another roll! Hilarious man! How many takes did it take before you decided this was the best of the best of the bunch? Great acting by the camera guy too, any normal person would have screamed for their life watching their friend fall to his possible death!
