Hi Brett, I still have the same thought when approaching rudiments too mate. You have to enjoy playing drums so play those cool songs! As you play more cool songs I started to realise I was learning rudiments without even knowing but if you can blend rudiments into fun practice, even better, enjoy⚔️🥁

I was only a drummer from the age of 12-17 and haven't played since, but, I always cracked my hi-hat symbols, and then they would start curling and it would catch on my stick. They were all Paiste brand. All my money went towards Newports and Olde English 800 in those days, so I had to settle for whatever symbols I could steal from the high school band room. I never cracked my ride or crash cymbals, which were really good Zildjians from the 80s.
