I'm going to post some videos for people that might not get into the woods much or at all. I'm trying to shoot them as beginner videos.
The first set of videos will deal with learning basic bushcraft skills using an Old Hickory Knife.
Batoning, Notches, Fire Making, Char Making, Ferro Rod, Flint & Steel, Bird's Nest, Tinder Bundle, Fuzz Sticks, Bow Drill Fire Set
Now that I'm done with the Old Hickory series I'm working on some basic survival and bushcraft videos. I'm still trying to film them in a way that beginners can pick up the knowledge to go out and practice the skills.
In the future I hope to record a series of videos aimed at preparing trail runners for an unexpected night in the woods and another for day hikers heading out for a trip to the woods.
I also have a few things posted on imgur too. pawildernessskills.imgur.com/
The idea is nice and similar to the 'fully enclosed tarp' that I saw on Wildbeare's RU-vid channel and tried out myself. Sorry to you, but it was a lot more spacious and comfortable than that tent you tried to make.
Another idea is the Larry Lay where you make a pile of leaves and lay the tarp next to the pile. Lay diagonally on the tarp, grab a corner, and roll yourself up in the tarp ending up on the leaf pile. An emergency measure.
When you doing a trucker's not you're supposed to put the line through the loop twice and you don't have to worry about putting that half inch in then you can pull it blood tight that's a better truck or not
I just pitched my tarp using this method. It fucking works! And pretty well! Not that I wouldn't believe it'll work, but it still feels like a small miracle :D I've pitched it before, sure, but never using this "pro" method.
The rabbit goes out of the hole, around the tree and back in the hole again! It's as simple as that! My Pop was a boy scout back in the 30's and taught me that 5o years ago...
If you pull a loop through the bowline knot and use a toggle you don’t have to Jack around with feeding it through the loop, you can tear down and be on the move quickly if needed…
your demo on hiw to make the bowline was the most difficult that Ive ever seen. try 'the rabbit comes out of the hole gors around the tree and goes back down the hole again' method!
If you're having trouble with the bowline, you can also use the Siberian Hitch to attach the first end of your ridgeline. Here is a link to that video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IavnAMuRId8.html
