The oldest one i have is a 24 years old Hipro in a Pentium 3 system. It was still working perfectly fine but i replaced the capacitors with new ones. They are worth saving if you got Athlon XP,Pentium 3 systems or older because the old ones used to have more amps on the 20 pin connector to power the cpu aswell since they did not have p4 connectors. Modern power supplies are not stable if you try to power old systems with them
I've had a couple of HP desktops & I had big plans for em both but in the end the proprietary parts limited the builds & I gave up & sold the various components. Thanks for the video
Yeah - it's a bit of a frustrating PC all round - too big to be a low-power office PC - why have such a large PC when there are smaller systems available, and the propriety power supply (and missing SATA power connections) mean it's not much use for expansion. I might downgrade it and give it away.
I've also got the same pc and with the same issue. I searched a lot and didn't find anything. now I got your video in suggestions. If you fix this please let me know Ty.
The CPU is compatible - check the CMOS jumper is good advice - jumper on pins 1-2 but the fact it didnt beep without ram is a warning sign its dead - the caps look ok and usually if they look good they are . Ive got 2 dead SIS Asus boards from dead chipsets - they power on but dont boot - also while its running - touch around on the board to see if anything is getting hot -
I found the manual 🙂 This may a silly question but is the jumper CLRTC1 on pins 1-2? That's default. 2-3 is clear CMOS. You could pull the plug, press the power button for 10 or so seconds, then put jumper to clear, pull the coin cell and have a cuppa tea. Jumper back to normal, replace the battery and try to boot.
How ram is in this PC mb wise, I think if I did it right would be 263 which is insane for 1999! Mine was also built in 1999 with 192mb of ram and even that was consider premium for 1999! You have a nice pc!
@@anotherrandomguy2763 you're right this has been upgraded over the years, so I'll have to see if I can find the original specs, it might have been 32MB or 64MB?
Found the original configuration of the Q6600 PC and some of the prices from August 2008: - ASUS Vento Case Micro ATX - £32 Scan - ASUS P5K-VM Micro ATX - £55 Scan - Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro - £13 Scan - 2gb (2 x 1gb) Corsair DDR2 Ram - £32 Scan Intel Core2Duo Quad Core 2.4ghz @ 3ghz 500gb Samsung SATA 500gb External USB HD (Hitachi) - in an Akasa Silver Alluminium IDE enclosure. HP Lightscribe DVDRW SATA - £22 Corsair vx550w watt PSU - £55 Powercolor ATI X1900XT 512mb PCI Express graphics - £90 s/h
I forgot how long it took to boot a computer with a 5400 spin drive, 256 MB RAM and an old Pentium or equivalent haha. I wasn't much for games even when I had better reflexes than I do now.
That power cable has the cute little -_- face on it lol. Also I'm sure noctua fans would make this a bit more quiet (of course some server fans are super loud)
My first ever PC was a Tiny! I got it in 1998 and it had a Pentium II 233MHz processor, 64MB RAM, a 5.2GB hard drive, 4MB ATI Rage Pro graphics card, a separate TV Tuner card, and Windows 95. Needless to say I got rid of it years ago but I kept the speakers and subwoofer from the bundle, which have always been monsters as far as PC audio goes... a pair of 180W speakers and a 500W subwoofer!
Just stumbled into your channel. I have a modern PC gamer, but I also keep some older hardware and it's amazing to see how reliable, robust, and good they are and how much we still can do with them. Thinking about even setting up my own home server with my old desktop.
I've transferred a Windows drive to a completely different PC before. It wouldn't boot, of course, just gave me an error. Put in the CD, reboot, select install and get the message that Windows is already installed. Would you like to repair it? Yes, please. It keeps programs and most settings but might delete whatever was in the Windows specific folders - Documents, Pictures, Favorites if IE was being used. Mainly it re-installs all files in the Windows and System32 folders. I don't think Ive ever had a PC with branded keys and mouse until I bought the tiny Lenovo several years ago. The AST I had in 1995 might have, but the kids destroyed at least one keyboard in the '90s. LOL
