Thank you for posting this demonstration on straightening a panel! Our non-verbal autistic grandson absolutely loves the alphabet and Dr. Seuss, so I want to sew him an alphabet quilt with a Dr. Seuss panel. What I received in the mail, however, it made me cringe because it was so misshapen. You saved the day, though ... it's now square (enough) and ready for a couple of rows of Pup in the Cup borders! He's going to be thrilled when he sees it in a couple of weeks. ❤
The second quilting project I made was with you guys. It was the QAYG 9 block. I made it as a play mat for our youngest grandson. Now I've been piecing a simple 4 patch with sashing and corner stones for our queen bed. I have my center done and am ready for borders and once again you have the answer that I need! I'm in Arkansas and love our home here, but I sometimes wish I lived closer!

this was an amazing video and i learned so much. I am making a quilt for my grandson using this technique. The demonstrations was wonderful and I was able to follow along and picked this up quickly. I would like to do a border and binding for my quilt but I hope you have more videos as I really enjoyed this tutorial very much. Well done!

I have a Juki TL 18 and I used the Gutterman invisible thread in both top and in the bobbin, but I have metal bobbins. The bobbin tension was perfect. I had to mess around with the top tension, but I have always had an issue with top tension on this machine anyway. I had to put it in the bobbin because I was sewing two table runners together and they both had different patterns so nothing would lineup. I’m glad it’s over. 😹😹😹😂🤪🍷🤣

You definitely can. But most of the time I am working on larger blocks - 14" and bigger and most rotating mats aren't that big. I love your video! I’m having problems with the density of my fill on my patch and would like to change it before I make a patch out of it. Is there anyway I can do that? I just don’t understand a thing about density whether I want a larger number to get it less dense or do I want a smaller number to get it less dense ? Thanks so much!
Sorry for the late response. A larger number puts more stitches in the area so it is more dense. Often, it is more a stabilizer issue than density. Most people don't miter the corners. You can if you want to. You fold the corner point in towards the quilt. It will miter when you fold the seam allowances over. Does it make sense that the straight stitch looks a lot straighter with the walking foot vs regular presser foot? I’m tempted to just use walking dog for everything since the stitches look much better
@@TheSewingBasket I see. Maybe the tension on my machine is off too. I feel like the bobbin thread on my straight stitch often looks more defined and straight and neat vs the top thread. The Top thread stitches appear slanted and slightly curvy vs the bottom seems to be more “straight “
