your new clap is very good! what exactly did you do to achieve this result? I have been experimenting with the length of the tail so far, but so far the result is not what I would like to hear.

In 2022 why??? 🤔 Clone the design and workflow but change the sound. The sampler TR market is pretty slim.

Some enjoy making and creating things that they envision in their heads. They enjoy the challenge of a project. If you don’t have any technical skills, it seems pointless to you. You sound like you never make a thing in your life. Why make a cabinet when you can buy one? Why cook when you can order out? Why ask why just because you are unmotivated to do a project?

With all of the high-quality VSTs available, and the ever decreasing cost of machines that can run them, you could say this about basically any hardware synth, drum machine, or sampler in 2022. And yet we are living through a hardware renaissance, so there is obviously a huge market for it. I'm not sure what "sampler TR market is pretty slim" is supposed to mean... this isn't sample-based, all the sounds are synthesized from scratch. Plus the TR-8S (which actually combines TR workflow with sample playback in addition to digital synthesis) is insanely popular, as are the JD-Xi, MC-101, and MC-707, all of which prominently feature TR-x0x samples.

because : - this is the only replica of the tr-808 in the market since 1983. i took 2 months to build a re-808 with the original chips from the 80's, rather than buying clones ( acidlab, behringer, roland tr8..) it was hard choice and of course i don't regret it because it sounds perfect. If you don't find differences between an 808 and clones , then i advice you to buy clones \o/

Great job! Not sure but the clap seems a bit off. Which transistor did you use as an alternative for the 2SC828RNZ?
@itrema
@itrema 2 года назад
i built mine with a 2SC945, it is the same than 2SC828RNZ. It only brings noise to create a "tail" like a reverb effect. This transistor brings noise ( or like a "reverb" or a "tail") to the clap, and in the same time and same amount to the snare and to the toms.Then you can adjust the global amount of noise with the TM4 trimmer. BUT if you find the clap too bright ( the reason why the clap seems a bit off? ), it will depend more on resistor than transistor. So, you can replace the 10K resistor in R333 by a 22K to 26K and you will have a darker clap, like some old juicy 808's :-) i did that to my re-808, i compared to 808 clap sounds and it matches perfectly now
@dalaplan
