I was told about this video by a work colleague and I just had to watch it. When I was at Banham Primary school ( I started there in 1970 aged 4 and left in 1977 at 11 years old ), at lunch times three of us at a time were aloud to walk down to Lucy`s shop to buy sweets. We each had 10p and chose from a variety of liquorice catherine wheels, sherbet dips, flying saucers, black jacks etc. I remember it like yesterday, checking carefully how much we had left and not over spending. Eventually we would walk back to school happy in the knowledge that we had a large bag of sweets to eat in the playground. I cannot believe that this shop has been allowed to deteriorate so badly in the middle of a village, it is a total eyesore. I know of the family it belongs to and they have many other sites which have been derelict for as many years as I can remember. With building land so desperately needed, these sites should be used rather than decent farmland. Was the car in the drive a Citroen DS by the way? I remember one of the family members having one of those. Thank you for making this video, I realise how dangerous it was for you. It brought back many happy memories of my friends at the time.
So there is a few more shops they have abandoned wow. Yes the car is still there sat in the bushes, I did this back in 2020 the roof wasn't so bad then but it had not changed in 4 years its a great little place with the stuff sat there collecting dust
Thanks for documenting this before it's gone, my great uncle was a tail gunner on a B-17 that flew a few missions out of Thurleigh. His ship went down in December of 43 and only 3 of 10 survived, my great uncle among the ones never found. So many lost and so young, it's crazy to think about. Cheers, and be safe out there.
Just for the record, three people were taken to hospital at this meeting when a wheel went into the crowd. Spedeworth badgered the owner of this channel to remove the footage of the aftermath of this event, Even though the footage only showed the marshals holding blankets around the scene. Now, it's as if the event never occurred.
correction they didnt badger me they harrassed and threatened me 2 members of so called staff who i reported to the head office dont think they cared about the threats though
This place is in a residential area and the neighbourhood has been putting up with alot of serious anti social behaviour from this place caused by idiots like you advertising the place on social media. Dont come back, you could get hurt.
I used to go here as a kid in the 90s. Sad to see it so messed up and trashed now. Thanks for the nostalgia trip. They used to have an amazing parrot at the reception area in a Huge gold cage called George. Was a mischievous thing that used to try climb up and down the stairs/banisters whilst trying to grab your hair and bite you.
@@StraightOuttaUrbex yeah, huge shame. I wonder if the fire was an insurance job/way to hurry on development. Sounds like it got run into the ground as the council kept refusing them the ability to demolish and rebuild the leisure centre, where it was old and not fit for purpose, so needed to be updated to compete with other places. Really rubbish. The old owner, since passed, was a lovely chap.
This was my secondary school from 2003-2008 and it's so weird to see it like this. The school was terrible and was inadequate by ofsted back in my day but that stage was my happy place and it's crazy to see it burnt out especially when it was a proper working theatre stage. I was literally showing my daughter this and telling her what lesson every room was
I enjoyed walking around it it is a shame about the stage I didn’t know about it sooner wish I did but was interesting walking around working stuff out
@@StraightOuttaUrbex I glad you enjoyed walking round and I'm so glad you filmed it even if it's in such a terrible state now. It was never really maintained well and there was quite a few questionable teachers but it wasnt all bad. My dad who is 71 was the first ever Yr 7 class there when it opened. They also have another site on Maidstone Road Chatham that's closed down too which flipped between being for yr 7 and Yr 8s and then 6th form. That has a nearly 124 years old building that was also previously a convent as the main part of the school and then extended but not sure if that's even able to be looked at as its been sold recently
@@StraightOuttaUrbex oh yes they closed both sites and they are up for sale, Maidstone Road already sold. They have rebuilt the school at one site on the land they already owned on city way Rochester which is already finished and it's all up and running
Should of just carried on and just ignored them generally if you don’t bother them they won’t bother you always film for your safety even if you don’t upload videos
@@StraightOuttaUrbex its still not a drug and is still a herb and traditional medicine. the fact you call it a drug at all means you are so far removed from reality you cant tell the difference. ps your channel sucks
