I was going to watch this until I saw Vickers name in the cast. The minute he screamed out "stop with your damned coughing!"to some audience member during the third act of Tristan he lost me forever, not that I much enjoyed his whiny voice even when he was singing.
One the absolute greatest musical numbers. And, no matter what the moaners say, I love the 1974 movie version. Lucille Ball, Robert Preston and Bea Arthur are all excellent.
Not for anything but Angela was robbed of the movie version, Lucy couldnt sing on her TV show and STILL couldn't for the movie...maybe it was the 3 packs of cigarettes a day???
This is the expanded film orchestrations, which achieves something that the pit orchestra cannot -- grandness! And, to add to it, the film overture was never heard complete. It's interesting they'd edit it so badly. Glad a complete performance exists of this orchestration. Thanks for sharing!
