I agree, but I think there were unacknowledged feelings before then. That just cracked the door open. Then the undercover op freaked them out because they realized it was real, but were terrified to admit and just kept lying. 🤷♀️

I 4got what this video looked like!!! There r 2 others focused on the women & r pretty awesome 2! They r more serious. I hadn't recalled, how funny sum of the clip r?! So glad there's the clips of Harper, Lopez & Lucy, when they took her 2 the speed dating event. BUT..recently I saw the TRIFECTA w/ Tim as they r all looking at Tim's look-a-like & he's tryin 2 say he dozn't really look a lot like him . In order Harper, Lopez & Lucy respond, even in how they're standing in the order of each 1. BRILLIANT of the writers & Director. The TRIFECTA 1) Harper says 2 Tim, 'The hell he dozn't!!!!" 2) Lopez chimes in, "He's NOT the brightest bulb!!!" 3rdly) That's when Lucy suddenly cracks up & days "Omg its Tim & Dim." And ALL 3 of them break out in laughter!!! I loved 2c the 3 of them work more 2gether as Lucy takes on more uc work. They just hve such good chemistry 2gether, the 3 of them, which I ENJOY!!!!!!

One of the things I like about this show is the female characters. They aren’t dudes with vaginas. They are cold and broken. They aren’t Mary sues. Chen is a goof and a bad ass. Nyla is a narcissist and a compassionate, warrior mom. Angela is bad ass and sensitive and caring. And none of them are overly sexualized or objectified! It’s practically a miracle.
I LOVE Chen, Lopez & Harper's bond, they've created over the yrs!! How the 2 were there 4 Lucy comin bk 2 work aftr her abduction! . Harper's belief, support of Chen becomin a uc cop. The 3 2gether Lopez, Chen & Harper & w/ Tim looking thru the glass window & the 3 of them crack up whn Lucy said "Omg its Tim & Dim!" & whn Harper & Lopez ask Chen 2 go uc 2 infiltrate the gang. Lucy wz a speed demon & the smile H & L gave when Lucy said "U must hve sum dumb genes in ur family." wz great!!! So many little moments. BUT nope, I don't like Bailey. She's becum 2 much of a caricature 4 me. Juarez wz 2. She couldn't sleep & honestly felt comfortable 2 just go & sleep over at her TO's. It wz absurd!!! As if Chen, Nolan Jackson or Thorsen would've EVER done or DARE ask!!! Or that Tim, Lopez, Bishop or Harper would've blurred the lines & let their Rookies do that!!! Gosh, Tim stayed overnite in the hospital 4 Lucy b/c she almost died!!!! BUT I don't think Tim saw her again til she came bk 2 work. & Tim asked Nolan how wz she really doing?! Lopez did on Jackson's behalf ask Lucy if she had a space 4 a roommate. And it wz after Lucy wz a Rookie when Jackson wz shot & killed. Even then she wz just sharing with Tim that she couldn't go back 2 her apartment & c Jackson's empty room, that nite. BUT...it was still Tim who said, "U don't have 2. U can stay with me. Lucy still says she doesn't want to impose. BUT Tim said, "Lucy u shouldn't be alone tonite." The others probably knew b/c when he gets the call that Wesley knows where La Fiera is holding Lopez, he's says, "We'll be rite there" As if the others would've read more in2 that b/c they would've understood. Jackson wz literally killed that same day & Lopez wz taken & all them watching Jackson get shot & killed was brutal!!!!! I thot Nolan wz a better TO in that barren place as he helped her & wz great!!!! He told her what she did wrong, when she approached the vehicle w/ a serious criminal. And in the morning driving 2 the bar she tells him where they'll park b/c she doesn't c these 2 brothers as a threat. Nolan says "No." And tells her where they'll park & explains to always due it the same so u are prepared if something happens. I do agree we c Bailey come out of a marriage that was abusive. But it just didn't last 4 me. Juarez is growing on me, again b/c she was forced 2 deal w/ 2 serious situations in the last 2 episodes. I know I'm not the only 1. I saw that others weren't liking the new Rookie. There wz only 1 ep I said wz a C. It was when Lucy went uc & I loved the plot & wz SO looking 4ward 2 that ep. Loved those scenes. But it ruined it 4 me seeing so much of Bailey, Juarez at Nolan's house. Juarez feeling/being that familiar & talking 1/2 the time abt why she cldn't sleep or the 2 abt furniture. I don't feel like when Bailey is fighting, that it comes across as believable or real like Lopez, Chen, Harper or Bishop. Juarez fighting looks & feels believable. BUT with Bailey it's so over the top & again like a caricature. I like some of the querky characters BUT they aren't regulars on the show. I wz surprised aftr the hiatus I wz a little nervous abt the nxt episode which ended up being 2 episodes. Nolan suddenly sounded more like a TO!!! & told her to go home & that Hotel Nolan wz officially closed. The nxt episode after Juarez is being investigated whether she killed the criminal they caught or the riot. Nolan was empathetic, compassion & gve her good insight, BUT when it wz determined she hadn't killed him, Nolan again wz kind, compassionate BUT professional & there were clearer boundaries b/t him being her TO & his Rookie. He asked her if she still wanted 2b a cop & she said yes & then told her 2 go home & get a good nites sleep. I wz curious if social media affected those changes. B/c I saw others fans weren't happy with the new Rookie. I'd seen her act on Chicago PD as a cop & loved her there. AND I wz thrilled we had 1 episode with out Bailey but Nolan wz hlping Tim's sister, Ginny. I do love seeing Luna Grey's wife be a badass, she's waay more believable 2 me. She's been married for 27 yrs 2 a cop & also has had 2 deal w/ racism all her life. Loved when she & her daughter took dwn 1 of the guys who abducted her. And the ep. where she'd bought all that CBD oil from Nolan's mom & it wz toxic. The 3 go 2 return it. Luna goes dwn in the elevator & calls it in, but suddenly another guy wz there & she sprayed him in the face w/ her bear spray & kicked him hard & says & maybe send an ambulance. As he crawls out of the elevator in pain, due 2 where she kicked him, Sgt Grey just says, "That's my girl.". Luna also shared with Nolan that her Dad was an alcoholic & she had to learn 2 set boundaries & how it almost broke up her marriage. I loved the episode at the end, where Tamara had an assignment & chose to interview Lucy. It was supposed to be a woman who was in a career that was still predominantly men. Chen, Harper & Coco (that's her under cover name, don't know what her real name is.) As Tamara was enjoying their conversation, she says, "I can't use any of this for my paper." Lucy asks her what she needs to write about specifically. The conversation struck me the 1st time, as in how Lucy responds. Tamara asks about fitting in. Lucy as insightful as usual answers her question that affected me. She said, "Honestly...I think 'fitting in' is a trap...' She explained how each of them had to carve out their own path to overcome the obstacles. And she talked about how empathy can be seen as a weakness when it's a strength. Her last statement was strong & said, "You're sitting here with 3 women who had to navigate their own paths & obstacles. AND there's not a man who is a tough as of them." Earlier on that episode, Harper wz asked to lead Coco's sessions, b/c she had a tail on her & couldn't do the seminars. No one is allowed to listen in on their sessions, not even other police officers. Chen has a chance & listens in for a bit while Harper is speaking & teaching women. I'm sure " The Rookie" had these stats & weren't made up. Harper says, how many more male officers use a lethal means than women officers. There were a few staggering stats & the difference. BOTH were empowering. Tim comes bk & tells Lucy 2 close the door. And Harper in a kind way, says to Lucy in the parking garage, "You know we're gonna have to talk about this." Lucy responds & tells her that she has spent a lot of time thinking about her career & said she was very interested in becoming an undercover cop. They were just about to leave & go somewhere to talk some more, when Coco calls & tells Harper that she had to cancel b/c of this tail. SO...Harper has to cancel with Lucy til she says to Lucy, "Unless u want to come along?!" She of course does!! And saves the day but is looped in for the next day & take down.
You were going great until you ruined it bashing Bailey and Celina for no reason, I agree with all the good things you said about Lucy, Angela anda Nyla, but all the rest... just NO. Relax.
I love the way the writer(s) write the Rookie women. They suffer traumatic experiences, deal with it, then come back stronger and more fearless. Nyla, Angela, Lucy, even Bailey and Celina, don't go off the deep end. No drugs, alcohol, depression, nor dependencies. They keep going without blaming others for what happened to them. Thank you so much for not rendering them powerless to their unfortunate circumstances. ❣️
I agree with your statement how The Rookie does a great job with writing the women & the traumatic experiences they've faced & deal with it with them coming back stronger. Though I don't have the same feelings about Juarez & Bailey. Yes...they show them overcoming, esp Bailey from her ex-husband. But I don't otherwise find her very believable. And they also show the men who struggle & aren't always SO tough as they sound. Tim being the obvious. I love that they show men being vulnerable with what they've endured. When we learn that Tim had an abusive Dad who wz an alcoholic, I thought I wasn't ever sure if I ever seen a male character especially as tough as Tim be just wrecked & vulnerable after he confronts his Dad about what really happened & why the gun was hidden in the wall Lucy knew Tim wasn't seeing things clearly, as they say, "Cop eyes." She asks Tim, "Why would he hide the gun in the wall?!" Typically Tim would've picked up on that. He simply says, "I don't know.". When he came back after seeing his Dad, Lucy has to stop him. And tells him she brought his Dad's once mistress back in & tells him she knew there was more to her story. Then says, "You could only c the version u wanted to see." Tim was so vulnerable & Eric Winter does it so well. AND to see Lucy comforting him & holding him, I thought how rare?!?! Wesley's not a cop BUT struggling with panic attacks after being stabbed & when Lopez has trouble waking him up, she says, "Mixing alcohol & anti-anxiety pills were u trying 2 kill yourself?! He says, "I don't know." They've shown a good balance. B/c Men who are 1st Responders have high % rate of PTSD and suicide. SO...I think that is also being depicted well. But it was both Tim and Lucy being a woman to comfort him and say, "You're nothing like him." His pained expression was so obvious & she was so tender. I think Lucy actually felt bad that in the episode pryer she referred to 1 of Tim's traumas or what his Dad forced him to do at 7, & Lucy I think just instinctively said, "a Tim Test " I think she felt bad right after she said it. Tim looked at her. And Ginny asked, "What" & Lucy said, "Nothing."

Bailey's character fall in place with suffering trauma and not falling prey to nightmares, drugs, alcohol, psychiatrist, etc. I watch too many shows where women are vulnerable. (Tim's ex) for example. Bailey's character might be unbelievable, I like the strength the writer (s) give her. Celina 's character is more unbelievable than any character on the show. ( Inconsistent ability to pick up on things: animal in trunk, live man in casket) for example...
@@gwenbaker9163 YES...I do agree with you on the topic you were addressing. B/c sadly I didn't mean to get into the men so much. B/c the video was so much about Lopez, Harper & Chen. BUT I suddenly realized they show the men struggle also, which is healthy. But I still don't think I have ever seen a scene where Tim desperately needed to be emotional consoling and to be held & see a woman holding the man. He clung to Lucy!!!! It was more than a hug. Cuz sadly men 1st Responders have a high risk of substance abuse & not seeking help. It's stigmatized for them & they don't seek help when they need it. With Bailey partly many of us, are tired as one fan said, every wk Nolan & Bailey's relationship gets shove down our throats!!!! And lots just don't see chemistry between Nolan & Bailey. And we talked about how we wished we James & Harper more. And I said even Grey and Luna!!!! AND we laughed & were a little disappointed that the episode where Tim gets spinal surgery still ends with Nolan & Bailey & also them getting engaged & we were disappointed that they were last. BUT equally laughed how no one cares that Nolan and Bailey got engaged!!!! For me, however it all came out, when I love good plots in cop shows!!!!! And loved that Harper & Lopez wanted Lucy to go undercover & infiltrate a women's gang!!!! Even with that, Harper said ppl assume that girl gangs aren't dangerous or as lethal as guy gangs. I just couldn't believe that 1/2 of that episode was about Juarez not sleeping so she moves in to Nolan & Bailey's. And then it was all about the furniture. I understood what you said about Isabelle. BUT why I see that differently was in discussion of Tim & Lucy & how I think it's the video that takes u thru Tim & Lucy's relationship. And one person said a comment I didn't agree with & others well. And I said, by this one scene they projected that Tim was hard ass thru out all of the 1st season & said, that wasn't correct. I said Lucy saved Tim's life on their 1st day when he was shot!!! BUT...Tim was spiralling majorly!!!!! Realistically Tim could've easily been fired and also sent to prison on a felony if it wasn't for Lucy intervening. AND was glad when she told him off Season 2 Episode 1. B/c yes he was her TO but Lucy helped Tim the most personally!!!!! AND loved when they were being questioned over the $$$$$ that was stolen. Tim said there was no way Lucy did it b/c she wouldn't get caught. Bishop says, "It sounds like you're proud of her." Meaning if she could achieve this crime. Tim says, "All I am saying is that she is smarter than them." AND though it was awful, ironically Rosalind was right. When Lucy was in the barrel & Caleb asked her for any last words, she said, "Yes. You're gonna be dead long before I am.". Rosalind lol actually was right when even she was impressed by Lucy & the lack of fear that Lucy showed Caleb but defiance. BUT I think that Tim would've spiralled out season 1 without Lucy. Well he was spiralling!!!! BUT she intervened & stood up to him. AND immediately when he sees Isabelle, he was a mess.
I'm not disagreeing with you... I'm just thankful Nyla, Angela, Lucy, Bailey, and Celina 's characters are strong. I give a Thank You to the writer (s). My focus is on the experiences those women had and how the writer(s) gave them what they needed to survive an otherwise unhealthy life style. Those characters have been a true heroin.
