Thanks for the video I just received this today Sunday 19th 2024 it's my first build was on Amazon for $44 under a different name called toysly company instead of nickbuild having fun putting it together so far.
Loved your review! This was one of the first non-Lego kits I bought and really enjoyed building it, as you said. I was really impressed with General Jims and want to give them a shout out. Not in this kit, but another one of theirs, I was confused by the differenct between the color of the pieces in the instructions and the ones I had. When I contacted GJim's and told them I was a new builder, they explained about color differences. When I said the colors were (I thought) radically different, they sent me replacement pieces. To my chagrin, the pieces were the same color. When I offered to send the pieces back, they said to keep them and enjoy! (Also, I love their business card which came in the replacement pieces that says, "No builder left behind.") All that said, thank you for the review and I can't wait to see what else you enjoy! I'm now a subscriber.
Sorry, but as to non-Lego brands... No, I will never buy them. I have found them to be too cheaply made and they don't hold up/together or actually fit like real Lego.
Pretty interesting video and you are a brave one with a stray cat around your Lego. I was a bit bummed though cause I thought this was going to be a video about how you planned out and designed a table to how’s your Lego city. It was more about cleaning your basement lol which is fine, but I would’ve been interested to hear how you plan the dimensions and the construction and even documenting how you built it. at the end, it looks like a piece of plywood on top of some legs. Are you sure you made it big enough to expand your city? I’m in the middle of moving myself and thinking about my future Lego city and I want to build it big enough to more than triple the size, potentially down the road. And accommodate elevations like a subway and mountains or tiered roads things like that.
As a matter of a fact there is man and his daughter doing a review on same set i do have do have mine has a white box not black so scroll down on here you see more reviews on these sets
I got a coffee shop set its called block model city cafe from Amazon Canada its 48 dollars and no lego mini figures they have a few nore sets to add just like you did so yes cost is good no damage to parts ether im still working on it like a puzzle
This was totally what I saw when I see these sets without backs too, just need two. They were on clearance for more than 50% off at walmart yesterday so i took the opportunity.
I wanted to take my son to this because there isn't anything to do where I live (everything is hours away) and I can't afford to fly to some other convention out of state. But alas, their rating on the BBB made me change my mind. And the reviews on Facebook, yelp, reddit and other places solidified my decision. It appears to be a big scam. $40 for VIP that gives you an "exclusive" build that I read is very small, under 10 pieces. Another $30 + (if you want the option) for only 3 blind bags that you dont even get when you show up. They are mailed to you. And $15 for "ticket protector" in case you need a refund (meaning if you miss the event you can't get a refund unless you paid an extra $15). I think I'll take him to the zoo instead, that is free and I only have to pay $10 to see the sea lion show, the 4d theatre and ride the train. And we can have a picnic in the park next to it. I may seem frugal but I don't get why people pay so much for tiny brick toys or to see other people playing with tiny brick toys. 🤷♀️
I love this idea, and I’m definitely gonna use it this summer when I want some new sets; I had a play around with the websites and the palace cinema came out to be half the price if not less than what eBay was selling for! But then I also did it with the boutique hotel and some were cheaper and some were only slightly more expensive, yet again, they would all be second hand ones and this way would be brand new ones, and I guess the palace cinema is a much older set and therefore more expensive and has a higher want, interesting to see how the prices vary!
Thank you for this, I’m about to move in a couple of weeks and I was trying to figure out what I was going to do with my Lego sets. Glad I came across your video. By the way my move is 24h drive so I definitely need to keep them Lego’s secure
I took your advice from this video and got mine for $110. Only had to buy a few parts and custom stained glass windows plus some of the printed paintings Also had fun sorting thought my own collection for brink bank, had about %65 of my mine. Rest of the pieces I bought from Webrick.
ive been really thinking of adding pre-built lego sets into my ebay selling roster, this information is EXTREMELY helpful in my quest, thank you VERY much, and congratulations on your new home!
I have ordered 3 or 4 sets of bricks from WeBricks. Color can be VERY inconsistent. I ordered a bunch of trans (dark) blue tiles, and they were all over the map in color--with 3 different shades of blue which went from slightly darker than Lego brand trans blue to slightly lighter than Lego brand trans dark blue. Ended up ordering replacement bricks from Lego. Similarly, my whites ranged from Lego white to slightly yellowed white to slightly tan white. It looked really obvious on my ski slope. Other than these two colors, everything else was just fine. Brick tolerances were not as good as Lego, so some bricks -- like the shorter axles were too long and interfered with the motion of some models. The solution was to trim the axles until they fit and did not bind. Not an ideal solution. Some other parts didn't lock together as well as Lego bricks do. So, overall, I save money by buying from WeBricks, but I always end up having to order some replacement bricks from Lego or Bricklink.
Glad to see you talking about this, sorry about my dear friend Marcos. I was one of the first Lego Ideas designers who had a lot of LEGO Ideas projects stolen, when I say a lot I mean more than 6 projects in 2 years, logically I received nothing, no communication or the option to say yes or no . Marcos and I are not the only ones, there are more than 20 Lego ideas creators suffering from the same attack of intellectual property theft. Thank you very much for your video and greetings to my friend Marcos from here. :)
It’s soooooooo expensive!! There needs to be some competition to bring Lego prices down. I started as an anti-fake lego, but in the prices Lego is charging, I don’t feel guilty any more.
I got a question. Can’t find the answer online anywhere. I got one pack of road plates. I assembled way it instructs. However I get Lego speed champions which are too wide for roads. I found out you can connect the road plates in a way to accommodate the wider car sizes but there’s one issue I ran into. The center peg squares on road plates. Once I put them on I had no way to remove them. I had even carefully nudged the tip of my exact knife to leverage it out and it just broke the tip inside the very tiny slither of space where it’s pegged. Please I’m begging is there a way to remove the pegs once assembled or are they always stuck? I even tried the cheap Lego brick remover from Lego store and nothing ;(
Use duplo for filling in areas. They actually match up size wise with Lego. So say you are building a mountain, you can fill it with duplo. Also, the Lego boxes from ikea work for this as well! You can make a facade of a building around it.

The stickers don't have to be expensive AND you can have them. I use BrickStickerShop if I'm building a vintage set. I almost spent 50 bucks on a 5563 sticker sheet that was 30 years old... instead I spent like 5 plus shipping.
Well of COURSE Lego is a better investment than gold, because you're not supposed to invest in gold for capital gains, you do it to hedge against fiat currency inflation. Gold is very stable commodity. Lego is a speculative hobby that creates its own demand. The comparison is foolish.
