What happened to the Walz branch library on Detroit Avenue? It was closed and taken down nearly three years ago so a new library could be built. Its August 2024 and the site still sits vacant. Voters passed your levy in 2017 to renovate and build new libraries. I guess you could say this benefited the entire city except for residents in the Walz branch neighborhood. There will be no more support for any new CPL levies from this neighborhood that lost their branch.
LOVE LOVE LOVE CPL! You've been an integral part of my life from the very beginning, as both my mom & sister worked there.I spent many a day going through books, taking free classes and of course story hours!😅 God bless CPL, thanks for all you do!
I couldn’t agree more about the “even handed” approach to the Siegel and Shuster controversy. I had never read such a balanced account of all the parties involved and really appreciated hearing both sides. Great job Ed!
I was obsessed with this fire when I was a kid in Bedford in the 1980s later I had a friend who’s grandmas two sisters died in the fire . I cant believe they found this footage It is amazing .
Ann Clleaves...Congratulations on the OBE far all reasons. I first found the Shetland Series on PBS. Recently, having run out of Louise Penny Books, I started all the Vera books and have enjoyed also your videos together. I just finished The Long Call this morning and am looking forward to more of them. Thanks for all the stories! Wishing you some lovely weather when you visit San Diego (south of me) later this year for the Boucheron mystery writers convention. Looking forward to checking out Lori Rader Day books...thanks for the video!
Many years ago, before all the computers were moved to the Stokes building and perhaps for a while after, I remember your computer catalog that had ways to rate and review books, kept track of all the books I had read, and I believe it might have made suggestions too as well as being able to read other reviews. I reviewed many, many books just for fun and to help others decide what to read. Imagine my surprise one day when the "old" catalog was suddenly replaced with another version, all my reviews gone in an instant! My personal record of book titles read vanished! I never bothered rating any books again and barely used the new catalog at all. It seemed rather pointless.
I love this story sooooo much! I just finished the second book and I AM STILL CRYING TEARS OF JOY FROM THAT ENDING!!! This is such a great story that talks about the struggles of coming out with a trans identity and all the aspects of trans-ness in itself. I adore this graphic duology and I look forward to seeing more excellent work from Vincent Kao.
On Valentine's day, a little while after I came out as a trans man, one of my friends, (keep in mind that he wasn't at the age where he could entirely understand the full concept of transgender youth) had given me this book, and I couldn't be more thankful. The fact that he went out of his way to find me a full-fledged book about my struggles, and my love for magical girls! The representation in this book is absolutely outstanding, and I'm so happy to have read it! Thanks, Izzy! I'm also incredibly happy that you shed light on the series, if only for 20 or so people. Seeing people making positive commentary on extremely underrated correct representation of the lgbtq+ community just warms my heart.
