Here in Western Australia we don't punish or make the public pay for driving on our roads and Freeways in WA. In those stupid hillbilly Eastern seaboard states, they think, it's the greatest and most profitable idea of all time.
I'm from Perth WA, this is real eastern seaboard Hillbilly ancient stuff. We would never accept this rubbish of old slow BS travel in favor of nostalgia and tourist money. Just totally clown public service behavior, from the Vic ALP.
Love the creepy crawly traffic in the Melbourne Suburbs. Takes years and years before they say, I suppose we should do something about this. Then the Vic gov says, lets make them all pay for toll roads and track these shit head public at the same time and make judgement"s about their movements. Otherwise make them travel on these stupid ancient cold slow fucking trams that are supposed to be the biggest Melbourne trademark of all time. Fuck me! Ding, Ding.
Now that is one long line, I used to catch it in the city out to the start of the Smith St run, on coming back into the city sometimes the tram took for ever to arrive to pick me up, after seeing all it goes through after Collingwood, no wonder. Actually I met my wife on this route, in the city, at the now removed stop just before the Bourke St Mall. (Elizabeth St) On the odd occasion, heading out of the city down Gertrude St, the driver would miss judge how far it was until the Smith St turn and would come in a bit 'hot' over the rise to that corner and have to apply quite a bit of near excessive breaking to make the turn.... One day I had my back to the front, so no probs, however a petite Asian lady opposite me started uncontrolled rising out of her seat and coming towards me during one of those breaking sessions, I had to grab her by her shoulders and gently offer her back into her seat, lest she end up in my lap, or worse! I think she was a tad embarrassed, with no idea what to do, not that there was much she could have done!
Just watched a vid on one of the last St Kilda trains before it was converted to a tram line, kind of strange going down a railway line in a tram, pity they mostly lost the old railway stations.
My question is, if the train stalls on a regular basis , perhaps a couple of times a week and they know it’s going to stall , why wouldn’t they hook up the power before they leave for the destination…… 😮 I guess that’s what happens when your an idiot and don’t know nothing…….
I got to travel on the J515 seven years ago as a birthday present from the family - travelled on the plate. Great trip from Maldon to Castlemaine and back. Both Maldon and Castlemaine are worth a visit with some good overnight stays. The 549 has obviously had a refurbishment and converted to oil - looks great.
They still lead train but more often than not are trailing units. They will be around for as long as SSR here in Victoria see them as a viable option for running trains.
Just imaging that if they had future thinking, with slight alter to Middle Park station to 3 platforms, it would be a perfect way to transfer people to the race in the park.
Mate if I knew you were in Crewe I would have got you a beer! If you are still in town call into Tom's Tap and Brewhouse. P.S. it's next door to the West Coast mainline.
A78 still survives at Bendigo but it's not in operational condition. All of the V/Line A class will still be operational. A62 707 Ops - operational. A60 Seymour undergoing restoration. A66 V/Line Passenger Operational. A70 SSR undergoing reactivation.
A Survey "Spy" tram? Seeing the driver at the controls (1:00) immediately blows away my mind's view of the driver wearing a black coat and a black Trilby hat and acting furtively at the controls! LOL😁
The franchise agreement asks for every 6 months. In it's current form, it's impractical to have a permanent setup but that may change in the next franchise
