Can memories stored in breath by used to awake an object whilst keeping those memories intact? Also, can you duplicate memories so you have them stored in multiple locations/breathes?
One thing that I'd be interested to find out is, would Kaladin be referred to as Son/Child of Tanavast before he's left out to die in the high storm? Is it perhaps possible that before the Stormfather spoke to him a small part of Tanavast's cognitive shadow split from Stormfather... perhaps intentionally, or simply because of his budding bond with Syl.
We know that she will have a POV in the next arc. What if in her book she will meet with Chanarach again (they are besties right? Or correct me if I'm wrong). Then Chanarach will die this time for real like how Jezrien died (with a raysium blade). But before that Chanarach will get a hold of her Honorblade and give it to Shalash (aside from bonding an ashpren).. Hmm. That's just my theory. 😅
The best case for heralds being able to have children, in my opinion, is the Idrian Royal Locks on Nalthis. The Returned on Nalthis are cognitive shadows, much like Heralds; they can have children. There’s a WOB about this in the Warbreaker Annotations. Two different sets of magic pointing to the same direction. I’m curious to see how Honour and the Heralds thought it would be a good idea to pit 10 humans against hundreds of fused on Braize. Seems dumb. Of course they’d be captured and tortured. We’re probably not getting answers on this until arc 2. There’s multiple reference points saying the final desolation was inevitable. I’d like to know why that was so. There’s an epigraph from Taravangian’s Diagram which says “the desolation can and will sit where it will” or something similar. There’s also Thaidakar in the book 5 prologue saying he’s not sure how much they actually catalysed the desolation (with axindweth giving Ulim to Venli I think). If it was inevitable, I think Shallan might be able to forgive herself for killing Chana assuming Chana is mummy davar. Hopefully this will be answered in Book 5.
I have had an inkling in my mind that the tragedy in book 5 is Syl dying because Kaladin has to kill someone due to TaravOdium’s positioning. You mentioning Syl being that sun that goes dark made this inkling strong enough to actually mention. And Kaladin’s honor could potentially be great enough to break the oaths out of duty to the world of Roshar. Also, what is the link to Jimmy’s channel? I thought he was that blonde dude, but that blonde dude I thought he was is Daniel Green. I have no idea who Jimmy actually is after listening for a few weeks lol.
*** Spoilers ahead ***Now that the prologue was officially released, we can compare it to the prologue he released two years ago. A notable change was the description of Shalash. In the previously released prologue, they described her with flaming red hair for some reason Brandon took that out in the main draft. Thought you would find that interesting..
I actually have something to contribute! Teft actually does have a secret recipe for the cookbook! Now this one is a slow cooker and it takes all day, so don’t start cooking when you’re hungry. Okay you need a big mixing bowl. First just get a pinch of fire moss. Then you add another pinch of fire moss. Let it stew for a second and then sneak in another pinch of fire moss. Now you have noticed you have a dry rub forming in the bowl, add another pinch of fire moss and work the rub around in the bowl. Then add another pinch of fire moss. Repeat these steps until your friends find you.
I'm theorising the way Szeth's (Truthless) oathstone works is that there are a small group of Shin who practice Bondsmithing (or used Ishar's blade until he reclaimed it) and they forged a Connection between Szeth and the stone - perhaps including an oath sworn by Szeth along the lines of: so long as I am Truthless, I will obey the bearer of this stone. The realisation he was never Truthless is what freed him from the Connection to the Oathstone because the knowledge he gains means he is no longer Truthless. No doubt SA5 will give us a definitive answer
I'd speculate Syl started following Kaladin around the time he started taking in and trying his best to protect the youngsters in the army... and in doing so embodying windrunner ideals
Personally, I loved Shallan in this first book. I loved the naïve artist who was just sarcastic all the time- I actually thought she was really relatable. It was when she developed her split personality that I had a hard time relating to her anymore and didn’t like her as much. That being said, Shallan is a great character. I just don’t think she’s super relatable (which makes sense I definitely haven’t killed several people close to me)
Just discovered you guys but loving the analysis and tying everything from the first book into the later ones 37:45 OHHHHH so the reason there aren’t spren popping up everywhere in Dalinar’s visions (the actual memory snapshots) is because its pre-Honor’s death. The spren came from Honor dying and the shard splintering into other beings
Brandon has answered this. Spoilers: In the leaked book 5 chapters, there's a scene where Hoid is laying in bed with Jasnah, and start freaking out big time. He starts writing a bunch of stuff down, and when Jasnah asks what's going on, he says that Odium erased some of his memories, the memories of their first conversation. He's terrified because this means Rayse is learning (it's not Rayse, but he doesn't know that), and he's scared that the contract he signed with Dalinar is secretly a trap.
The clue to Shallans mom is a Herald that i found on my last reread is pretty strong imo. All through the books people use a Heralds name and body part as an exclamation or curse. Shallan says, "mother soul!" in that same manner. She also refers to Testament in the safe as her mothers soul. Well Chans body focus also happens to be the soul. Ive never seen anyone else point this out.
So the most important words a man can say are the oaths to become radiant? Why does Dalinar switch it up and start asking himself what the most important step a man can take? I might be completely off and remembering wrong.
1) Jake and Jimmy need to be on together sometime. You can have a three way conversation 2) Lift/Dalinar movie already exists. It’s called What About Bob. Lift is Bob and Dalinar is Dr. Leo Marvin
US hard cover copyright 2014. Contradiction within the same book that I caught as I am finishing my re-read of WoR. Chapter 10, page 136 (flashback sequence discussed in this episode) : "Father carried Shallan over the body of a woman in white." Chapter 88, page 1059 (confronting her past in Urithiru): "Shallan walked to the other corpse, the one facedown in the beautiful dress of blue and gold."
