I saw a different brand scanner online and it boasts that it can also detect the exact sheen I.E. flat, satin, similar, matte, high gloss etc. can the. Mini do that?
Oh really? That's very interesting. No the Nix MINI 3 cannot detect sheen. In fact, anything that has a sheen or gloss doesn't work well with the Mini 3 because it flashes light to detect colour and any gloss just bounces the light back
I would have preferred to see you scan random objects like a vase, liquid, etc. also, the affiliate link brings me back to RU-vid and I want to order. I will go to their website and order and enter TEBMINI3 as discount code . I do like your personality and expertise so I will subscribe. The tests that you did were impressive.
Two comments: 1. You already *knew* that the stuff travelled airborne and coated things...and you sprayed it again? Without protection for your lungs? Yikes. This stuff should not be sprayed without wearing a true vapor filtration system, AND with strong cross ventilation! 2. Having a water repellent layer that allows oils thru means that you can stain the fabric with oils and then cannot clean it with anything water based...eg, soap and water.
I would it was about 3 to 5 days before it was gone but it's hard to be sure as we get 'smell blind' in our own space. But, yeah about 3 to 5 days. I hope it's gone for you by now 🤞🏻
Yes, I agree. I think as time passes, formulas change, maybe supply changes and so the Ikea White we may have relied on has variations now. Ugh. The best way to deal with it is to get a Nix MINI 3, but I realize that unless you are using it for an extended amount of time, that doesn't make sense. So....paint is easier to adapt than furniture, so grab the furniture first, and then get a paint colour based on that piece. Get a bunch of paint chips from a local paint shop or home depot or Lowe's... etc. And pic the one that is the closest match. And please, don't dwell on it too long or you will drive yourself bonkers. Once you pick the paint chip that is the closest... Throw the rest away immediately and just paint. Then grab a glass of your fave beverage, sit down and enjoy. 🤘🏻
Is it petroleum-based. LOL The company sure went green on that!!!😂I have the same bottle and I guess you did not read the warning that is a bottle long. DO NOT SPRAY WHERE PIOLET LIGHTS ARE! VEREY FLAMABLE. I wonder if someone dropped a cigarette on the fabric would it go up in flames?🤣
Whats the difference between Nix Pro2 and Nix 2 mini or Nix Mini 3. My friend had Nix Pro 2 and i used it for leather colours and it helped me a lot. I cant find Nix Pro 2 on the amzon but i can find Nix Mini 2 or 3. Thank you.
The failure of this experiment is that he manually switched brands to the correct brand before the scan. If you're searching for a color match you usually don't know the brand. Can the Nix find the correct color and brand by itself? We'll never know because he didn't try it.
Thanks for your comment. You are correct that I didn't try that. The reason is that this is not that type of video. I was merely testing the accuracy of the device.
Do you think this works for the IKEA white kitchen cabinets as well? Do you know if they use the same white on the dressers as kitchen cabinets? Thanks!
I bought this stuff and I thought it was still a urethane product. I applied my first layer on my padded fabric laptop case before I actually read the contents. I'm not totally pissed off because water (rain) is what I mostly want to shield my laptop from. I'm still pretty pissed off but I understand their decision. I just wish I had noticed the contents before I told people Scotchgard was urethane based. PS the fingers nearest the spraycan while I was spraying are now slippery. This did not happen with the old formulation. I am sure that as soon as I wear off that layer of skin the slipperiness will be gone. But I wouldn't be surprised if it winds up on my jeans when I stick my hands in my pockets etc.
Great video! But what was the difference between the can labeled fabric protector and the new stuff? You mentioned calling about it, but I don't think you ever said what the difference between the two is. Thanks!
Not sure of your math but much higher than 90% as both the first two are marked as ‘excellent’ matches. I am terrible at math so not sure what that percent is but higher than 90 :)
G'Day mate. Thanks for the video. By any chance, have you tried scanning if the device is not laying flush on the surface? I have a weird use case where it would help to get the digital colour codes for areas of a wet oil palette. But Im assuming that it needs to be pressed up against the wet surface rather than hovering slightly over.
Hmm. I have not but that's interesting. I do know that it uses light to scan the surface so shiny surfaces don't always work well because the light reflects back. I will give it a try though and report back 😉🫡
How good is this device scanning unpainted surfaces? I'm installing speakers in church with masonry. I'd like to paint the speakers to closely match/blend in with the masonry. Thanks
You can scan any surface you want. You can scan a poster to grab a specific colour out of it. YOu can scan an orange OR you could scan Masonry. One thing I would warn against if high gloss or shiny surfaces. So if the wall you are scanning has a high gloss finish, the scanner will have a hard time with it as it is reflecting light against the surface and high gloss and shiny surfaces reflect too much light back at it. But if your masonry is not shiny...then Bob's your uncle.
wait... you scan a random colour and it wont tell you the closest colour from all the brands???? you have to CHOOSE a brand first????? that's so stupid. i was literally about to buy one until you said that. why limit it like that? i want to walk down the street and test any colour paint i like. I wont know what Brand it is.
Ya, thats thr Problem If NCS would be free thats no problem brcause most of the Brands use NCS Colours... Maybe i will test the mini 3 for 30 days. Edit: Just bought the NCS Colour Pin Pro
I know. It's unfortunate but turns out it's about the complexity of the programing involved to allow more than one brand at a time. I know that it's something they are working on though.
@@TEBInteriorsInc sounds like a programming issue, they can choose to let it show you a 'closest' match first (regardless of brand) but i can see how that might give you many results (that might not even be available to you in the shops), but to force you to choose a brand first is absolutely backward. At the very least they should let you search from the top 10 brands in your country. (just make a list for each country!). They way they do it assumes i know what brand of paint a colour is... when i don't even know the colour name yet - how ridiculous.
Whats the difference with Datacolor's EZ reader? I found the Datacolor more easy with it's physical button. Is this Mini 3 worth double the price? Thanks
Scotch Guard poisoned us all with a Forever Chemical called PFAS. It’s in so many products and we drank, cooked with, showered, swam, & bathed in the contaminated water they were dumping the chemicals in. It’s even in the clothes we wear and non stick cookware. I watched a Documentary on NetFlix about it.
I am not sure why you feel it necessary to post this again but OK, let me answer for you. I do not know the specific scenario that you are hoping to use this for, but not every product covers every situation for every person. You don't buy a spoon and say "So this is useless" because it won't cut your steak. So no, this is not useless. This product has many use case scenarios for many reasons and scenarios. The main reason I use it, is when I have an item with a colour that I love and want to use that colour on a wall at a client project. For example, I can scan a specific Red in a fabric and the Mini 3 will give me a paint colour that matches from my local paint brands. There is also a fantastic Digital use for the Mini 3 that will get you all the digital references you need to use a specific colour in Graphic media content. So sure @victorabdelmalek7530, maybe this doesn't work in your specific case, and I am not sure if you realize this, but you are not the only person that exists at the moment so again, no...this is not useless. Hope that helps Hugs and Kisses Terry
@@TEBInteriorsInc this is the first time I posted so not sure what you're even talking about regarding me posting this "again". Regardless, most, if not all of your video is about matching paint colors, so yeah it's pretty much useless in that regard, princess. Have a nice day.
The app is totally free for matching with paint brands. There are some premium libraries that will require a subscription. These premium libraries are: NCS Pantone FHI Pantone PMS RAL Hope that helps
Thank you for your video. I am very leery of the use of these type of chemicals. My mother in law died of a very specific cancer related to a dry cleaning chemical used by the dry cleaning business she worked at for just a few months in the 1940s. The cancer wasn’t detected for 50 years, but they knew it was from that specific chemical.
That's terrible what happened to your Mother-in-law. So often we just mosey along in life thinking all these types of things are safe because "They" tell us they are. Only later to find out...uh oh.... Who knows what we will find out 10 years from now is super bad for us right now. Thanks for watching the video and I hope it helped in any way. ❤️ 😊
