Thank you so much for sharing this mammoth project with us. I have built and renovated many times and I appreciate the thousands of decisions that you are having to make along the way. I grew up in New Zealand and live in Australia so it's very interesting to see the construction of this cabin as you deconstruct for your improvements. Well done and thanks again for bringing us along on the journey.
Doing well! Was that hemp, or wool that was in the brown paper package for stuffing in the gaps? So much better than that spray foam that is often used! Cheers, from Oz 😊
@@MarcusStorm oh that’s so interesting! Linen is made from flax, the cellulose fibre that grow inside the stalks. Thanks for the response. I enjoy following your projects Marcus, a little slice of Nordic heaven. 🌲☺️
Marcus I'm sure one day you're going to get the necessary things done on the outside so you can start on the inside. There's a method to the madness as you say. It all takes time and patience to get it right. Keep up the good work and every now and then look at the camera and give us girls a SMILE 😊
I’ve never seen window glazing done this way. My dad use to just lay the glass on the frame then put in glazing points and then the glazing. It took forever to dry before we could paint it. Does pressing it into the putty help seal it better? The window looks nice. So much light. Are you trying to keep your space natural? Is this why you didn’t use that spray foam in the window cracks? The linen is a new thing to me. I love that I learn so many different ways of doing things on RU-vid. Thanks for sharing.
When I saw Marcus lay a bed of putty then the glass on top, I thought “Finally someone doing it right.” Rain will travel on then behind the glass unless it’s sealed with a thin bed of putty.

As far as the electrical boxes go...it's never a step backwards..now you'll remember for next time. Always something to learn. I like your color choices. 💛
I always believed mistakes are gifts from which we learn, so don't feel bad or be hard on yourself. It's all coming along so well. Nice to see the windows getting their due makeover.
I dunno if I missed something, but for the studs that you backed out from the log wall you should consider putting a couple of wedges behind the stud and screwing through the wedges into the log wall every time you have one of those long screws going through air. Otherwise I think there's a pretty big risk the screws could get bent over time and the stud wall get pushed closer to the log wall.
It's coming along nicely Marcus. I recommend you get an upgrade a impact driver drill will save you a lot of time and effort when screwing in screws. Just need wear earphones when using one. Best wishes from Devon
It's so discouraging when it's one step forward and one step back...But I admire your determination to do it right. You'll never regret doing that. Is there a reason you put the glazing putty in the window first, then put the glass in and then put more glazing putty on? Professionals I know just put the glass in the window and then put the glazing putty on top of it. It sits flatter and you break far less glass that way. It's just as well sealed from the weather because you paint over the putty at the end anyway. I'm wondering if it's just the difference between the European way and the American way....? Also, have you tested the paint for lead, which is highly toxic? Anyway, I love the little gun for putting in the "tacks" that hold the glass in place. And I love the yellow color!
Let me start with I like your videos. I have watched most of your series, but I admit I have questions. You seem to move from one task to another without actually completed them as you go. You are working on the interior and fixing the windows, all while you have a gaping opening on the side of your home where rain is free to enter, lol. Wondering am I wrong? Is there a method to your madness? Still watching though, lol.
@@MaryJane-kn3idobviously you don’t realize this person isn’t asking you. The question is to the content creator to answer. Folks that comment in this manner only create negativity. @@MaryJane-kn3id Obviously I have. Twice. Full house renos. In case you didn't know, women do that. I know what I'm talking about and doing a little bit of everything means you are doing a little bit of nothing. Best to have a plan (secure the roof and foundation, then exterior, then work from there.
He is filming everything he does. It get less boring to watch if you change the clips from time to time instead of showing the same thing for 10 minutes. So it´s not always him that moves from one thing to another, it´s the way he portraits it when does the cutting. Keep it up Marcus, you´re doing great. Learning by doing is the best way.
I'm with you on that one. I do love the green door though! (edit: I started to re-watch from the beginning. I guess you could say I saw his vision in a different light. Living in the typical red-black-white house myself, I changed my mind about the pop of yellow. I especially like that it's different without being obnoxious!)
Wow, what a labor of love! Your enthusiasm and creativity are truly contagious. It’s amazing to watch the cabin come to life-thank you for sharing this heartfelt journey! 🌲💖
Hey its coming along well. I went to an event in Solleftea recently and I think I've found my escape place near Kramfors so very excited. Keep going with the renovations and great to watch!! Thanks
Oh, Marcus, your new window makes a huge difference in the kitchen! You will be glad you did all that work every time the light pours in and makes the room cheerful. You deserve to be chuffed. Well done!!! And, you are now no longer a novice renovator - it's very important to your mental well being to have realized that every project takes longer than you first imagine. They just take as long as they take, and there's no point in cutting corners to make it go faster if your goal is to do a good job (and yours obviously is). Have a lovely week, and thanks for taking the time to post your videos. I find them endlessly interesting.
If it's anything like here and everything has to be permitted and inspected, I hope you're paying attention to building codes. We have codes for EVERYTHING. You darn near have to be a lawyer in some places to decipher them.
