Wasn't familiar with Adam, but definitely looking him up. I relate about the degenerative disk/back issues. Mines more neck and upper back. I'm currently trying to get another surgery to fix what the first person never fixed, or didn't fix correctly. I'd be willing to go to Thailand(or any other country) if i could get a surgery done that i need and pay cash for it. That South Park bit about navigating the American healthcare system is so spot on.
I love Tom's conversations with Ashna. 2 people who have a history, mutual respect and therefor unique insights into the day to day. And yes, there's lot's of bigots in Montana 😪
CON MAN=Confidence Man. That is the word origin. "Rizz" as the youngsters say (short for charisma). You mentioned people tend to prefer that in a candidate and that's why he's running and not behind bars where he belongs. Our country and political system now caters to and installs malignant narcissistic leaders and we're all gonna pay for it dearly once he's installed, namely the poor and marginalized.
The best way to experience Chichen Itza is to stay at the site--there are a ton of luxury hotels right there--and get there first thing in the morning when the park opens. You'll have a good ninety minutes to two hours before the tourist hordes arrive on the buses from Cancun. Tom, Calakmul is special: it's every bit as grand as Chichen Itza but there will be maybe five people there in the whole park. Fly to Cancun, fly to Chetumal, drive to Xpujil, stay at the Hotel Xpujil, and get a guide with a car. If you haven't done Palenque and Uxmal yet, they too, are spectacular. Add Yaxchilan and Bonampak in Chiapas to the list and Comalcalco, the westernmost Mayan site... Tikal in Guatemala and Copan in Honduras are also top-tier Mayan sites...
