The guitar keyboard is endlessly fascinating, that augmented trick just blew my mind... I was about to leave a smartarse comment about playing Caug by mistake... so glad I continued watching for the explanation!

I find the hard part is to get the rhythm right. Once you start thinking more about chords to move around than scales the navigation becomes easier.

That is a cool thing. I've been brushing up on the Lemon Song and what you played reminds me of the cool beginning of the solo, and played at the end also. I love that stuff. Thanks Mark!!

In 7 minutes you get more done in a lesson than others which would take 40 minutes. clear explanations, perfect graphics on the keyboard. and all in a good spirit. keep up the great work.

Great video Mark. I’m a “strictly rhythm” player for far longer than I care to tell. Yes, sometimes less is more. I never realized I’ve been doing the things you described without thinking about it but never knew they were actually a technique. Thanks for enlightening me!

Nice job, but if you watch Elvis' left hand fingers while he plays the tune, it appears he uses his thumb a lot (presumably to hold down the 6th string) ..

Fair play to you getting a professional gig playing bar chords 👍
@MarkZabel
@MarkZabel 3 дня назад
Thanks ... but that's not what happened. I got the gig by avoiding playing barre chords. The story is how I learned through "tough love" I wasn't going to make it past the audition if I didn't stop playing barre chords.

Steve Cropper once said that he often played only the top three strings and left the bass notes to the bass player in the band -- Donald "Duck" Dunn.
