SHOULD have won the Nat'l Championship the season 1977-78 season, when they finished 11-1, beating Oklahoma 31-6 in the Orange Bowl. Holtz's first (3) seasons at Arkansas, the Hogs went 11-1 & went to the Orange Bowl, 9-2-1 & went to the Fiesta Bowl, and 10-2 and went to the Sugar Bowl.
Seems like Brad Taylor was snake bit with injuries this year. That Ole Miss tackle from behind at War Memorial drove his helmet into the ground, (real grass field there may not have been an injury), and here this looks like another hit even though he was trying to make tackle and got run over. Need Marcus to explain on drive time why his offensive line had first and goal several times and did not score any points, except for his favorite, a field goal kicker on to score 3. Marcus may be trying to forget about this game. Cannot beleive all those red zone trips and zero points.
I still don’t know why Brad Beck was on the bench for that game. He was tough hard nosed RB. He would’ve given Texas a much better chance of winning that game!
McFadden would rush for 540 yards against" The ole ball coach" in 2 games. But it turned out Spurrier is a homer for Florida and voted for Tebow for the heisman trophy. McFadden could go 80 yards in the blink of the eye . Tebow scored all of his td's from around the 1 yard line.
Damn Longhorns! I saw at least 3 penalties on Texas just in this video that the refs didn't call ... but that's how it was against UT in the old SWC. They were favored by the officials and they got the calls (and no calls).
I don't know of any highlight films showing someone getting cooked lol. He was the second highest rated PFF corner in college football last season with a 91.8% coverage grade. As far as anyone knows he had no issues off the field, but he must have not done well in interviews.
What made this team so great was they took a kneel way ahead with 5 seconds left on the K-State 10 yard line. Too bad Texas A&M didn't have that much class when they ran up the score also ahead. SPORTSMANSHIP is what class is all about.
I was a Freshman in college. In 1984 I could have never dreamed that Arkansas would one day be in the SEC and that Texas Tech would be in something called the Big 12! The Southwest Conference was everything in those days and the Razorbacks were a power in the SWC! It was all I had ever known since the age of 4 and going to Arkansas games with my Dad! ❤
Sometimes I wonder why teams today don't put in a wishbone or veer triple option package. I realize either must be practiced religiously but it sure would be fun to watch again!
Air Force, Army and Navy still do it. It’s an offense that can help under talented teams win. One reason is it’s mostly post snap reads, not as many assignment plays to memorize. But it takes a lot of team mentality because there is a LOT of blocking involved. Just about everyone besides the QB has to block. Today’s athletes aren’t crazy about that. They want to know how many touches they’re going to get per game. But yea it would still work today because it can be quite difficult to defend.
As an old Razorback, I'm so proud of the red and white, win or lose. And I mean that. Just to play at Arkansas must be a thrill. As a member of the Razorback band, this college has such a tradition. I was in school with Joe Furgeson, Dickey Morton and Mike Kirdland and had classes with them. So proud to be a Razorback, playing drums like a mad man.
Growing up in texas as a HOG fan was tough. There were certain SWC (Sure, We'll Cheat) teams I despised more than others, but TCU was never a team that I disliked at all. (One of my Sunday School teachers was a TCU grad) Oh sure, I wanted my HOGS to destroy them, but they never rose to be a threat big enough to worry with or despise, like ut & aTm were. That is until their baseball team came to Fayetteville... the stories I heard & read about that had their players urinating in our bullpen and the complete lack of class by their fans - which I can verify after seeing that first hand in Arlington earlier in the year - has me REALLY not liking those little toads at all.
Wow. We got away with one on that touch down pass to Shibest that he dropped, but they called a touchdown anyway. Looks like the Razorbacks playing a lot of swiss cheese defense combined with some missed field goals and stalled drives on offense. Not only do you let them drive the field, but give up a touch down and a two point conversion. ouch. I thought losses like this only happened to Houston Nutt. Brad Taylor must have been out with a concussion or some type of injury from that Ole Miss game. We have Taylor at QB, we win this game.
Don't wanna re-watch a loss. Thanks, but no thanks. At least Hatfield won the next 5 over the Frogs. Ken Hatfield in his 6 years as coach was 5-1 vs TCU, 4-2 vs Texas A&M, 5-1 vs Tx Tech, 6-0 vs Houston, 6-0 vs Rice, 3-1 vs SMU, 5-1 vs Baylor, and sadly 2-4 vs Texas (should have beaten the Horns in "85, "87, and "89).
LSU fan here! Im not gone lie this Arkansas team has me worried! Green has the same ability as Jayden Daniels an honestly he might be up for the Heisman Race! Yalls defense looks pretty decent with room for improvement! After looking at yall schedule I can see yall upsetting and shocking ALOT of teams! Yall are definitely goin to be interesting to watch! Good Luck and God Bless!
Man shut up with that fake sympathy. We don’t need it. Just say it. We suck. We know it. You know it. Everyone knows it. 5-7 will be a miracle for us. Stop acting like there’s a chance we can beat y’all. Sure it may be close. Cause apparently that’s all we know how to do. Lose close games. I’m so damn tired of being the joke of the sec that everyone hates.
@@2xxNorMacKxx2 I was giving y'all an honest opinion. I think y'all would be great team this yr with new coaching price in patino! I think y'all will score points in Bunches! Y'all gone do just fine! I say 10-2 at best or 8-4 at worst!
When N.R. walked into the same building during a L.H.S. All-Star game, the PMAC called the Hogs in his honor while he wore his straw cowboy hat. Ultimate respect by LSU fans.
Bill Self was offered the Job then he backed out of this. Five Years Later Dana Altman was hired the Night after WrestleMania 23, 24 hours later Dana Altman resigned that SHOCKED THE HOGS Fanbase while the Football Program was in turmoil under Houston Nutt.
Last five minutes of this video sum up the Nutt era perfectly. Get dominated for 3+ quarters then tell your dudes to just ball out and get out of the way. A bunch of lucky, fluke ass shit later and walk out with a win just like you drew it up. Then brag about how awesome you are for a week and get thumped the next game.
