Ultraboost 5 is indeed a masterpiece; comfort and rebound are just amazing. The stack is 39/29 mm for the Ultraboost 5 and 38/28 mm for the Ultraboost 5 x (according to Adidas website).
@@RDQLUS You are welcome and thank you for your review. About the stack height... who can tell why, or if there is any difference between the two models. I love them both 🙂
@@wade_county adidas, Y-3 and Stella McCartney would beg to differ. Haha. They have made casual version of everything. As both a runner and a fashion head, I’ve come to grips that the running community thinks they control the use of these shoes… and they are just shoes… and we don’t. As long as women walk in stilettos, everything is fair game. 😉
Love this shoe and it still finds its way into my daily rotation. Took it on several trips this year because it looks great casually and performs like a high-end trainer. Climbed and hiked in the rainforests, lava rock tide pools, streams, waterfalls and mountains of Maui… never missed a step!
The Hyperion 2 is the successor to the Hyperion Max only 5-10% softer and snappier. You’re right, the Hyperion Max 2 is the successor to the Hyperion Elite 2 only beefed up for daily training. I’m glad they put a nylon plate not a carbon plate. It would have been too stiff but will compete with the Hyperion Elite 4. Right now I am torn between the Hyperion 2 and Hyperion Max 2. I’m looking for a long run shoe. I want a shoe with no plate whatsoever. I think I will go with the Hyperion 2 GTS.
@@Ben-yw8be great assessment. The nylon plate is so good, offering the right amount of stiffness and response without the long-term harshness of carbon fiber. the new Hyperion 2 looks like a good upgrade to the non-Elite and non-Max line.
Just bought them and really like them. Did Intervals right after buying them and they felt amazing. Was kinda hard even finding a pair though, since they seem to have been discontinued.
Just jogged 5 miles in them. I'm a slow, heavy runner, and I enjoyed it. Brooks have always given me hell (shin splints, knee pain, foot pain) but Ghost Max and Hyperion Max 2 have been great!
I'm planning to buy Li Ning Shadow 2 Essential. I'm 9.5US in adidas. Will 9.5 US li ning fit? or I need to go for 10 US. My front part of the feet is a bit wide.
@@karls8989 The Boston 12 is one of my favorites right now, and this tops it. The feel is similar; it has great impact protection but feels readily available when you want to pick up the pace. It seems similar but more robust than the Boston.
The Hyperion Max 2 is more responsive while the Boston 12 is softer. The Hyperion Max 2 is a faster shoe and much closer to the Nike Zoom Fly 5 than to the Boston 12.
Man this Brooks shoe is no joke. I LOVE these things! Haven’t been a Brooks fan in the past but I am now. Also this isn’t a PEBAX foam, it’s a supercritical TPEE and EVA blend (nitrogen infused, very similar to PUMA’s nitrofoam). Plate is PEBAX tho. Good vid!
@@MedicineRunner thanks for the correction. It was a slip of the tongue, and I realized it as soon as I said “nitrogen infused” 🤦🏾♂️ haha. I knew better because Puma and Brooks have two of my favorite midsole toolings in recent years. Yeah this shoe is a monster! I’ve had it on nonstop for the last few days. The versatility is off the charts and I very much prefer this foam over the squish of pebax foams. Thanks for the comment and view!
@@RDQLUS all good man! And yep! I agree, it’s very versatile. Just finished an 11 miler progressive and got up to threshold at the end and it was smooth as hell. PEBA foams are great when they are tuned right but seems some of the brands miss the mark on that.
@@MedicineRunner nice! Agreed; I’m a Masters sprinter/jumper, so I’m uptempo, plyos, hills, stairs… all of which I’ve put this shoe through the past few days. Ate it up without missing a step. PEBA feels great in some uses, but it’s often too mushy for me. I had a problem like that back in the ASICS Gel days… impact attenuation is only part of the equation, I need to get a good portion of that energy back. TPU (Boost) was a great shift 10 years ago, and TPE & supercritical TPE are amazing for me now.
@@RDQLUSah I see! Mannn don’t even get me started on these mushy foams everybody raves about 😂, I’m 180 lbs pretty lean and you appear pretty built yourself so us heavier guys definitely seem to get along with the firmer stuff. I still love boost, it’s just so heavy. Definitely opened the door to great midsole technology advancements tho.
@@MedicineRunner you called it; I’m 6’ 3.5” / 200lbs. I destroy mushy foams. Dense with great rebound is heaven because we can compress the denser foams.
Huge speed 3 fan here. I honestly prefer the Hyperion max 2 😮 they are seriously so fun to run in. Just remember they have a TPEE foam component so give them like 10-15 miles to break in just a tad.
Enjoyed your approach to the review, and I hope your channel continues to grow. Now for the shoe, this could be my first Brooks. I am very impressed with the overall look and quality.
@@mrgroundhog9790 Thank you so much! I really appreciate you saying that, and taking the time to drop a comment. As for the shoe, it’s impressive. Come back and let me know what you think.

Thank you for your really honest review…not a $300 shoe…
Thank you for dropping a comment. Nope… not even close to $300, but not a bad shoe. Brands need to get the ego in check, because this could have moved well.
Thank you very much! I’m going to try to do that more because reviews are often skewed toward the initial feel. I might call it something like a “Circle Back” review to update the info.
Great review bro! First video I’ve seen of yours and just wanted to say your passion for sneakers comes through and the video was a joy to watch and really helpful
I tried the Sky+ at my local store who has them on sale for $100 right now. Same thing with an upper. The shoes were brand new but the mesh on top would not lay flat. Its like window screen that does not move or stretch. I didn't buy them. Looking down, all I saw was waves of extra netting on top. Visually it bothered me too much.
@RDQLUS Haha, that's great to hear, I had some doubts buying vegan pairs but will try them out. You cleared the doubts for me. Appreciate your feedback and video review brother 🙏
:) those are looks like a first aid pack. I'm looking softer sole and comfortable shoe which one you prefer to me? KD900 or KD900x -anything else-. Generally I'm running approx. 15 km. per session.
😆 they do look like that haha. For looks I prefer the 900x, but the 900 is far more comfortable. Exact same upper fit. I want to try the new 900x v2, which seems to have far better cushioning than v1. What’s you foot type (narrow, flat, high arch, etc) and needs for your 15k sessions (energy return, efficiency, roll, etc)?
@@RDQLUS I think my foot type is flat. (by the way I'm already use kiprun ks500.2 What do you think those shoes?) Yes I want prefer much energy return and low rolling resistance shoes.
Very interesting question! I would say not to because of the integrity of the plates and foam; because the plates are exposed, water would be able to get between the foam pieces. That’s just my guess because I’ve had mine on in the rain and they squeaked a good deal until they dried. That material should be pretty easily washed with a good brush kit and a damp towel, then stuffed with a dry towel to soak the excess moisture. Hope that helps, and thanks for commenting!
Thanks for the review! I have the V1 and I'm loving it. I also got it on sale $125. Will probably pick a V2 when its on sale and my V1 is done. Athough V2 has a bit more foam, its a bit heavier than V1. I'm using the V1 as my 10K race day plated shoe.
Great review man! I have always used the Adios Pros for my racing but will have to see about these! Recently got hired by UA, and cannot wait to test these out and compare!
Adios Pro is so good, but these took me out of those for a couple of weeks. I was shocked I didn’t want to take them off. Haha. Thanks and good luck with your new gig!
Brah, compering it to HOKA is a good thing cause if u get what you get in hoka for less price thats a win, thumbs up for that, like your videos keep it up
Love the vibes here! Here's a fun backstory: I HATED wasps too... but I read that they represent all kinds of cool things like evolution, springtime, diligence, and teamwork, etc. Since I was scared of them as a kid, I thought it would be a perfect mark for the brand. Its like the Batman's bat symbol where bruce wayne was afraid of bats, but then harnessed that power to create his ethos. Badass little creatures, but strong when provoked in the wrong way! Thanks for your time and the thoughtful review of my design! _michael ...p.s. congratulations on 1K subscribers and wishing you a continued journey along the way.
This made my day! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell that story. Love the trainers, and will be keeping an eye out for more offerings from Atreyu 🙏🏾
No, it doesn’t feel like the Alpha Fly bounce. The cushioning is responsive, but there’s more of a forward roll. There is a little bit of bounce from the pebax insole.
Yeah, they are extra clean! And unique, which is difficult to do nowadays without getting cartoonish or weird. Appreciate the view and comment. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the kind words. Lots of reviewers are great at reading what they are sent. I try to go from the viewpoint of a designer who is a lifelong athlete-which I’m both. It’s difficult to stand out in the hype and media production of it all, so I just do it for the love of it. Thank you again 🙏🏾
It’s actually a factory sample of a pair I was testing for my accessories brand HVYCRWN by RDQLUS. Production quantities were out of my range, but I did buy this sample and they are fire! There are no screws, foldable and held together by only the spring tension of the metal. There are a couple of similar styles from two European brands; “Roav” and another called “IC Berlin”. Hope that helps.
I’ve been looking at the Transport GTX as my first HOKA. I’ve pretty much stayed with the Saucony Shadow series for the most part but this new GTX caught my eye.
