Absolutely fascinating! I've never actually owned a copy of Expert at the Card Table - but I'm very familiar with what it is. Might seek out a copy or one of the Revelations/Annotated versions!
Echoing the sentiments of most commenters, this documentary was just incredible- the content, the storytelling, the "experts" consulted with their intimate knowledge and insights. Unforgettable. Thank you for creating and sharing! Loved it!
@1:35:10--Why spell your name backwards when "...that isn't any way to successfully disguise a name..." But it was successful. The publisher had to tell people that it was spelled backwards. People weren't figuring it out.
Absolutely wonderful documentary. Bravo and many thanks for creating it, and a hearty BOO! to those on certain magic forums spreading negativity about it.
Much as this book is considered by many THE book on card table magic, I do believe The Royal Road has had way more impact in terms of pedagogy and cardmanship.
Whoever wrote the book, he should have known Houdini's cards moves since the famous Erdnase transformation was developed by Houdini years before the publication of the book. Do you concur?
Excellent edition of expert at the card table by Joe Crist with photos of the hand positions and a story about S.W. Erdnase passed down from Joe Artanis . Well worth checking out
