We all are complicit. The average person just wants to keep living with our modern technology that makes our lives so comfortable. If everyone stopped using phones it would have a hugely positive impact, yet here we are, wasting resources talking to people on the other side of the planet, watching videos. This is all very destructive and avoidable. We don't have to use this technology; there are ways to avoid using it, and there are people who are dedicated enough to the cause of environmentalism to go without smart phones and computers. People act like it's impossible, when people only a couple decades ago did just fine without these extraneous devices. One reason people refuse to go without modern technology is it requires one to also live without very much money, because it's impossible to participate in a modern economy without high technology. But it totally is possible to live without very much money; there are hippies who live in the woods who are practically homeless by most people's standards, yet they live this way by choice and are happier that way than they are living with modern luxuries of technology and money. If everyone truly wanted change it would happen very fast, but the vast majority of people want things to stay the same, in fact to get even more technologically advanced, which is totally anathema to environmentalism.

Yeah I agree you can absolutely combine both. I consider myself an Epicureanist. Epicureanisms goal is happiness , stoicisms goal is to live in harmony with nature. And living in harmony with nature only helps Epicureanists achieve their goal of happiness. I try to apply stoic practices while having the purpose of happiness and pursue simple pleasures I believe it's a great way to live life. We are not required to choose one over another
