Beautiful work. I do similar work scratch building and kit bashing since the age of 12. That said, it looks way too busy....great but sometimes less is more. You need to remember that Star Destroyers were new and very clean. The rebels were the ones including the millennium falcon that had excess detail. Now if you stated that this was a very old ship maybe one of a few still intact and flying somewhere in a galaxy, I would find this acceptable. Great work nonetheless.
@edgarslifejourneyvlog
@edgarslifejourneyvlog 14 дней назад
Yes, thank you point well taken about IMP ships always being clean; and new as well by the way. My angle to adding all this detail is that the model builders were being rushed when making the first movie under huge pressure to get the shots done for the movie I order to not go over budget. Remember George Lucas did not have the financial resources he had after when doing his first movie. I believe if ILM Modeler’s had more time they would have probably added a lot more detail. Look at a USS carrier which is on my 350 meters and see how much detail you can see along its structure below the decks. So this being a 1.5 mile long ship. I thought it would be appropriate to add all this detail. I find it hard to believe that a small area of say 1cm by 1cm on the ship that in real life would be maybe 50-100 meters X 50-100 meters would be flat and with no details, or very few. I am enjoying this one build. Not doing another one for sure.
@edgarslifejourneyvlog
@edgarslifejourneyvlog 14 дней назад
Thank you again. Congrats on being a model builder since a very young age! I did make my cardboard models with masking tape back then in the early 1980s as a kid, then as I turned into a teenager occasionally assembling plastic kits, never getting to paint them. Warhammer, N-Scale trains among other hobbies probably gave me some experience to tackle this current Star Destroyer. But it’s a lot of work. I will do this model and some Death Star tiles to use as a base for my EFX Tie Fighter and X-Wing. But that’s it.

Some people don't realize how short life is and how important it is to involve ourselves with projects and adventures that bring us happiness; I can see you understand that perfectly well. Great video. Do you use a reducer or flattener ?
@edgarslifejourneyvlog
@edgarslifejourneyvlog 18 дней назад
Thank you. I would recommend a flattener to avoid having to crop and loose field. It will correct for field curvature and provide pin point stars till the very edge. But if you really wish to do super wide fields of view and then don’t mind cropping a bit, the reducer would be my choice. There really isn’t one best option, like there isn’t one eyepiece that does it all. It will all come down to your target.
@edgarslifejourneyvlog
@edgarslifejourneyvlog 18 дней назад
I would also like to add that there are generic combo reducer/flatteners from different manufacturers. These are a compromise and opens up a Pandora’s box on the topic. It’s like the zoom eyepiece. One that does it all or individual eyepieces? In Photography terms for those familiarized with camera lenses, which is better? The zoom lens or the individual prime lenses? And then with reducer/flatteners there are those that are matched by the same manufacturer that builds the telescope and those that don’t match the brand of the telescope with the obvious disadvantages. Kind of like using Nikon lenses with adapters on a Canon body. It’s always best to have the matching gear paired up.
@madhatterstudios966
@madhatterstudios966 19 дней назад
nice work mate! I have been doing something similar but to the Zvezda offering for the past 5 years and I'm not far from finishing it. The worst thing about detailing like this is you have to replicate it on the other side of the ship and parts that were readily available on one side but then not so much on the other as you watch the extra parts inventory take a steep dive.
@edgarslifejourneyvlog
@edgarslifejourneyvlog 19 дней назад
Thank you. In my case I don’t worry, one can always buy more kits to kit bash which is what I have been doing. I add detail as I go along. I just make it up with my imagination.

@edgarslifejourneyvlog
@edgarslifejourneyvlog 20 дней назад
Yes, once I finish posting each individual piece, I am going to do a room tour, more like a property tour video 😂, there’s so much from all kinds of hobbies. But I still have a long way to go. N scale trains, Warhammer, Bikes (BMX, Road & Mountain), First Legion Napoleonic figures, 1/16 scale tanks, Airplane models, Chess sets, and it goes on and on. Once I am done with individual pieces, I will also need to do some videos where I can be seen talking next to the collectible, so people can get a sense on the real life size of some pieces. So much to do, good thing I am an early retiree.
