You know, it always baffles me a little bit when american inmigrants talk about latin american countries and they talk about it from the perspective of rich white people. Some of those incidents could've been avoided if you really integrate into the culture. I'm a foreigner too. I'm from Venezuela and I made it a point not to befriend people from Venezuela. I only wanted to befriend Colombian people and learn about the culture. But a lot of american inmigrants don't ever bother to learn the language and they live in this bubble of Poblado or Laureles. And they think they have a compresive grasp of life in the city. It's kind of ironical when you have people in the US saying that if you're going to live there you have to speak american. Of course, the people saying that are not the ones traveling around the world. So wherever you go, you have to make the effort to integrate by learning the language, befriending people from the culture. Getting out of the touristic zones. I have an american friend who wanted to live in the real Medellin and he went and move from Poblado to Manrique. Kudos to him. LOL. No place is 100% safe. In the US you have gun violence and school shootings. Getting a tourist visa is VERY hard, let alone a work visa. So it's supposed to be hard for us and easy for you guys?

I got through my first "honeymoon" year in Medellín without serious incident (ironically, when I was the least cautious), but I guess as a result I let my guard down and in the three years since have had two home invasion burglaries (while sleeping in bed in my bedroom), a stolen bike when the lock was cut, and an iPhone pick-pocketed on the metro. My personal view regarding safety is it's not a matter of "if" but rather "when" you will become a victim, and I don't do anything here now without first considering the security implications. Much less going out at night for starters, as well as limiting who gets into my apartment. You can make it work here, but you've got to roll with the punches and never forget you can be a likely target.

You can overcome all the cons with only one exception. You really left Medellin because you couldn't obtain a residence permit. You are not alone. Idon't like Panama, but I agree on the reliable banking. That is the reason my only bind with Panama is my bank account.

The main difference is that Tamarindo is inland and bocas are islands, so is harder to bring stuff to an island compared to inland, bocas and tamarindo are quite differente in very ways but good video overall

True getting anything by water is hard enough in Panama or Costa Rica. Both have airports though. But by identifying this, it may create more services to do so. ( hopefully ) Because Bocas is awesome

In Colombia we have "Súper intendencia de industria y comercio" and if they sold you 2 times the tickets like that...one email is all you need for a full refund... And is probable you don't even need to send the email because once you mention that name they will be like: "hey! hold on. Here is you full refund". Also you mention you like panama Banks over Colombia, but did you know that the best banks of panama are Colombians? 👀 Just saying.

Way too crowded now. Been here for 6 years. A lot of traffic and hard to find a parking place downtown most days. A lovely spot but growing so fast, local government is having a hard time keeping up with all the rapid growth. Price of everything here has increased by about a third in the past 2 years. Still bargains to be had but not the small town anymore. Still a great place.

Subscriber here. Nice finishes and floorplan! I especially like the space for a dishwasher. Also a great location between Boquete and David. Traffic noise is an issue, but could be mitigated, as you suggest. Questions: 1) 1:00 - What kind of roof is that, and does it offer any sound insulation against a heavy downpour? 2) Are the windows and sliders dual pane? 3) Boquete's climate is famously temperate, but can be chilly at night and early morning, as well as damp. I saw no HVAC system at all. A/C dehumidifies air as well as cools it, and heat would make morning showers more comfortable. Is there HVAC I did not see? If not, how much to install it in this home?
@healthymedia.marketing
@healthymedia.marketing 11 дней назад
1. I can ask the developer about the type of roof. the Shoot inside was while it was pouring rain, as I mentioned in the video, it just finished raining. And I could barely hear anything when the doors were closed. 2. Yes - Like I said very good build. 3. This is a developer question. I know most homes in Boquete don't need this and when a home is delivered in Panama it doesn't come with it installed. I've even seen a brand new home delivered without lights. But this home has almost everything. Contact me and I'll put you in touch with the agency. wa.me/message/RF7X3XXHXG4QD1

I checked with the developer and he said an HVAC system has been installed, ( pipes) so you don't need to rip anything out before moving in. Also it's a tin roof.

I appreciate your honest opinions. This is very informative and supports other information I have found about both countries. It seems like Costa Rica is kind of overblown. How would you compare your feeling about crime in both countries? I have been to Belize and Mexico (Mexico many times) and would like to check out Panama. I no longer feel safe in Mexico.

Appreciate the video comparing the two Countries. I've had brief visits in Medellin and Panama City. Loved Medellin (people, culture) and I could tell, just like other major cities in the world there are good and not so good parts. Panama City - I want to go back and spend some time there. Both are beautiful ciites. Thanks for sharing.

Guanacaste is like literally living in an alternate dimension tgh, cartago, Heredia, Alajuela Even San José are far different, yet Panama outside of Panama city of often underdeveloped ugly or lacking (infraestructure, services, etc), Costa Rica is more consistent regarding city development between provinces

I’m from Colombia, I haven’t lived there in 24 years but still have family there and it truly baffles me why people are so trusty of Colombians. Like, just don’t. Don’t trust Colombians. It’s sad to say but it’s true. If anyone tells you that Colombia is not dangerous, they’re lying. Yes, people are nice, women are pretty (I’m a woman) Santa Marta has gorgeous beaches, Medellin has the perfect weather, real state is cheaper than the US but, it is dangerous and Colombians are caniving as heck. Just beware, you e been warned 🤷🏻‍♀️

Look you dont need to sugar coat Colombia, its a completely corrupt goverment full of cons otherwise..Un-workable and its getting worse,,, now a proposed law for the government to access whatever bank account legally take your money and call it a loan. It probobly wont get passed...but the idea that a president would propose that means total economic collapse. All banks would desolve. Who put there money in them? I would not recomend investments here.,,not a car not a apt,, nothing, rent and enjoy..

If you think Medellin is bad wait til you see how shady Colombians are in Cartagena. Every Airbnb host is out to get you with excessive damages to their house (that are nonexistent). Cops pull you over for being in a taxi so they can search everyone in the car and shake them down (some instances they plant coke on you and tell you they must be paid or you go to jail). Kids are out pickpocketing people in the old city. Masseuses on the beach hassle you endlessly and then double the agreed upon price. Cartagena can burn in hell.

I agree with pretty much everything except SmartFit and $12 to airport lol. SmartFit's payments plans are so wacked (initiation fee and machine insurance fee, pain in ass to cancel membership) and their gyms are beyond crowded, in my opinion PowerClub (though a little more expensive) is infinitely better. Also Uber to Tocumen is like $20-25 USD everytime I've found. Cheers from a fellow Canuck (who is back in Canada though very much so missing Panama).

Thank you for leaving Medellín. We need more guys with the same idea. We use to live in a better place before all of you came here. Because of foreigners, living cost, prostitution and drugs consumption become ours biggest problems. I hope all of you find the paradise that you are looking for, but also I know that it will become the jungle after you passed out. Good luck on your future homes.
