This movie is straight up dogshit and the only reason I rewatched it was morbid curiosity to understand what traumatised me as a kid when I first saw it.
It should have been called 'Arthur', because it wasn't about Joker at all. It made me really sad to watch him fight his demons and get screwed over by the only good thing that had ever come into his life. I hated the musical segments and wish they'd cut 75% of it out, but I loved the acting and visuals and once I got over the fact the film wasn't going to champion the villain I enjoyed it for what it was.
Great review as always Cody📽👌🏼🎬 yes, I agree with twinning the fat of the edges. Just a little tho... and then this might have been an A+ for me! Either way, it was very uncomfortable and had my anxiety running wild😬😖
I went again last night just to see if my opinion changed...it did but not much. I didn't like M night's daughter's acting.🤷 Josh was good tho but the story was too far fetched for me. 5.4 from me. It should have been R rated
Great job on this review Cody👏👏👏 I'm going back on Friday to see it again with my kids! So much happens and a few jokes went over my head so hopefully I'll pick up on a few things. A+ is what I'm fixing it as well📽👌
I just watched it for the first time ever, and despite the humor being pretty predictable, I still laughed at almost everything, and some of it I laughed super hard at . I thought it lost steam a bit in the last 15 minutes or so, as is unfortunately the case with a lot of action comedies from the 90s. But even in that downtime, I was having a great time. A couple parts I didn't like were the dog in the sling, and the dog eating what I think was a taxidermied bird, him falling into that vat of chum, and then the fight scene where he uses the gutted fish as weapons (repulsive as it was, I did still laugh at the concept). I didn't like those parts at all. I appreciated the part where Gobei was dressed as a woman wasn't used as a way to be derogatory towards transvestites or transgender individuals. It was done with comedy in mind, but I didn't think it was mean-spirited, which was refreshing a movie of that era (looking at you, Ace Ventura... yikes on that one). I think this was actually my first Chris Farley movie. I don't think I've seen any of his other stuff. But now I definitely want to. I was shocked when I saw how low the aggregate score was for it on Rotten Tomatoes. 14% I think! I guess comedy is subjective. But I thought this one must have aged really well. I'm also surprised at the lack of racism? I think there was a little, but I'm honestly not sure... I didn't recognize anything overt, and I think that's pretty extraordinary for a movie of that era, too. But I'm also not of Asian descent, so I might not be as sensitive to detecting bad portrayals. But I swear it wasn't as bad as it could have been? Like not even close? Like I can't think of anything overtly racist except for what seemed like a modification done to his face in the restaurant scene? But even then I'm not 100% sure! But yeah, this was a surprise hit for sure. I loved the running jokes about the shoes at the hotel, the blasting backwards stuff when done with the spiritual plane, and Chris Rock chasing the chicken.
Furiosa is a cinematic masterpiece that has left me speechless! The time and patience one has to dedicate their life, in making a lifetime work, coupled with an unquenchable thirst to provide sheer awe and cinematic brilliance technically and emotionally, stands out at every single minute throughout the movie. Apocalyptic genres are quite easy to enact, since they require an astute understanding of how humans operate on baseline consciousness. George Miller did a fantastic job at delivering this exact sentiment. I am overall pleased with the aesthetic cinematic treatment compared to its predecessor for continuity and not overdoing with CG. Dramatic pacing and character introduction is given justice with sufficient screen time to develop their story arcs and finale plot. The wasteland is merciless and spares nobody. Flawless execution 10/10.
Best movie of the year and best action sequence of all time! Desert action overwhelming Dune 1.2 is sucked into the sand with the sound of a heart-throbbing engine
I agree with you 100%. Typically I frown on prequels, but this was well done. I hope we do not have to wait to long for another movie in the Mad Max universe
Sorry to disagree with the "critic", but this movie was EXCELLENT!👍👍👍 Of course I knew Amy's eventual outcome, but found myself emotionally invested in Amy's story! I was rooting for her the whole time, especially hoping the rehab would've happened sooner.. The movie focused a lot on her relationship with Blake & why wouldn't it? HE was the reason for her drug addiction & her demise 😭😤😡 Marisa was perfectly cast for this role!! ❤️
This movie was so BLOODY FUN! The actress of Abigail was insanely good and the movie was so funny. I has an absolute blast with it and cannot wait to watch it again. Going to be apart of my halloween viewing for years to come for sure. Great review!
Loved the action scenes in this one! I hate that I kept trying to compare it to Inglourious Basterds lol, that's my fault though. I enjoy everything Guy Ritchie puts out. Great review!
