@@perfectzero. interesting. I have the exact same setup and couldn’t get 2217 to work. Switched to 2213sc and found what works. Also shoot at little river. Probably seen you down there at some point surely.
700m with a 10x, you've got better eyes than me! Looking to get one of these in 243 as an all round hunting rifle. This definitely gives me confidence that it'll shoot.
I bought an Aspire in .243 Win for my 70th birthday last year. I put on a bottom metal trigger guard on too, originaly I had a two stage Timney trigger on it; but I put it back on my Tikka T1X which is in 22Lr and got the Tikka/Sako set trigger which works a treat. My Aspire is an early one (bugger) and has a 1-10 twist barrel, the later ones are in 1-8 twist. Mine likes the Hornady 90gn ELD-X bullets.
I was out on a hunting block some months ago after fallow. We came across a three in moderate bush (hunting's very different in NZ than the UK). I was across a gully at 375Yds, checked everything, took the shot but thought I had missed. It popped up a little further up the hill at 400Yds, added a couple my clicks and shot again, this time clearly seeing it go down. I took me a while to walk down and get across to get to the animal, only to find two animals. So, yes the 243 win Tikka T3X is very capable. Looking forward to getting onto some wallabies at 500Yds.
I would be worried about the long term reliability of the chassis as I have not had mine very long. So far I think it has potential for a great folding rifle system with moderate accuracy. This one needed no work due to the proof barrel being a pre fit. If I need any gun smith work I use Tyson from Tobbler precision. Thanks for watching to 👍
I did similar mods to my Tikka T3x. My gunsmith talked me into keeping the factory barrel and trying it first. Only thing I did is have him modify the throat to seat bullets out also. My 180 Accubonds COL at 3.125 and the 168 Barnes TTSX have COL at 3.091. I did put it in a factory wood stock. I like the wood/stainless look. I'm waiting on a new long action bolt stop and I have factory long action mags. So far it's a half inch rifle. I did put a limbsaver recoil on it
