San Francisco 49ers fans are treated to daily news and analysis with Locked On 49ers. Football analyst Brian Peacock and former NFL/AFL cornerback Eric Crocker present daily coverage, Monday through Friday, year-round. Part of the Locked On Podcast Network. #NFL #49ers #Niners #SF
The #3 option wants top 5 money. That’s a tough ask. And the number only gets higher. Should’ve tried to lock him up in April and saved some money. They do this to themselves every summer. You think they’d learn
These other teams are not paying as many guys as the Niners are. Kittle, Warner, Big Trent, Deebo, Bosa & Hargraves. And Purdy has to get his. The Lions, Dolphins & Texans are just now making these guys their big money guys. Niners have been guys top 5 paid in their positions for the past 4 summers
I don't think that will be a difficult task for him. If he has a solid 1st year, it opens the whole BA trade scenario. I thought initially that this could be Deebo's last year but he would be making less than BA if BA gets AmenRa $. CMC will get a raise, BCB will get his money. BA will be the odd man out
@@LockedOn49ers he’s already started it, look at how good he was throwing the ball last season and the half before that. Imagine more focus on passing going forward… the run game will hit harder as well. This team will be hard to plan for, they will be able to switch it up multiple times a game if needed. I’m truly excited about the future. I also know Kyle and John will only get better when it comes to drafting. Most of their playmakers were drafted after the 3rd round! Which is great considering we won’t be picking in the top 25 any time soon.
I disagree about more money in an average WR theory. I would rather do wha I’m better at, love more, and will accomplish more. Whether it’s 10 million a year or 30 million a year, I am still rich as hell! Make the right moves with your money and that money makes money! You don’t need multiple mansion style homes across the country or world. You don’t 20 vehicles. You don’t need the clothes that cost most peoples mortgage.
Bruh, we got a steal!!! JJ is a beast, more volume and he’s killing it. Where do you find a WR 6’4 for this cheap???? Crock hating, you ride on slick Rick, he needs to develop lol
Awesome news. JJ is well liked and talented. Congratulations to him. Played great in the superbowl. 😊🎉 He brings physicality. CMC probably more getting married.
I keep hearing the Chiefs have drafted for this season but how so when both there first 2 picks are projects? They have high ceilings sure but nobody thought pre draft Kingsley was ready this season, and Worthy is fast yes, but still has a huge amount to prove to show that his skills translate to the NFL.
I think Peacock got it right apart from the fact I think we will pass a bit more, and so Pearsall will get targets this year on top of what our current 3 get, and CMCs carries drop slightly to preserve him for the post season!
109 pass calls to 77 run calls in the playoffs. Definitely moving from a run first to a run threat offense as Purdy grows and they can push the ball downfield in ways they couldn't with previous QBs. Stacking the O with elite separators to win man on man matchups while improving interior protection is the way to keep this O humming. Aiyuk, Jennings and Pearsall are all elite separators. You don't need 3+ seconds in the pocket when you have multiple route wins and a QB in Purdy who processes and rips it as fast as anyone in the game. You also don't tend to tip your hand on whether it's run or pass when your skill positions block with the ferocity of linemen which we've seen from Jennings, Kittle, Deebo and Aiyuk. The strategy seems pretty clear, I don't think too many other fan bases complain about having too many good players that are elite at too many things.
You guys were on point with the CMC Wideback talk. I told my son a long time ago, you don’t want to be a RB. You want to be a WR. You’d make more money and play longer. A #2 receiver makes more than the top RB. In money & longevity, numbers don’t lie!
It’s good to have depth but depth usually means you can keep your head above water when a starter goes down. The window may not be closed But this may be the last year ride for this top notch squad. Purdy gets his bag and others slowly have to go elsewhere.
I love the Wide reciever depth!! Everyone complaining about the draft picks, but the past few years hasn't been good enough!! They haven't won a Superbowl since 1994. Time to get the 6th!!
This team always is voted best roster in the season and leads the league in probowlers but the media always hates their drafts every year and questions their roster building ability.. make it make sense. Been like this for 5 years and people talk like their roster building techniques like they’re the worst in the league 😂
Jj's role got bigger!!! Why because we lost Woerner. Meaning the 4th wr will play way more because the 9ers are clearly moving away from 22 or any double tight end sets to way more 11 and they think Rickey can sub immediately atleast 2 of the 3 wr positions IMO z and f and attack both with an added element.
On paper they are better this yr than last yr. Especially at D line. 2nd string I feel is immensely better. Last yrs 2nd string left a lot to be desired. This yr they signed other teams starters to be backups. They have a better rotation. On the back end this is the deepest they've ever been. Now put it on the field
@earlclark6002 Armstead has missed half of the last 2 seasons. Guys they brought in were starters from other teams so the overall depth in terms of 1st and 2nd string is much better. Collins is more of a pass rusher, Elliot more of a run stopper. Matos is similar to Omenihu in that he can play inside and outside and we know what Floyd is
Collins’ numbers are likely to be inflated. We have to wait to see what his “fully guaranteed” numbers are. St. Brown’s fully guaranteed money was about $36 million total.
They picked 31. Pearsall was going early 2nd round if the 49ers didn’t take him. Wide receivers started flying off the board. It was not a reach. Great route runner. Great hands. Great work ethic. Very good speed.
Most do not understand the fine print, it’s not about if the player was graded a specific round, will they be there on you next pick. As well as, say the O line, are you willing to pay first round price tag on a guy who will probably not start as a sophomore, let alone a rookie? Pearsall won’t be a full time starter with this roster, but he will contribute as a rookie for sure.
@@gameused881 maybe you should practice what you preach! Because where then49ers were picking THIS DRAFT all the ones that would no doubt start were gone, especially given who they would have to beat to get the starting role. And miss me with the bull crap opinion that Mckivits sucks. If that’s what you think then you need to go watch him again. Feliciano is a veteran with experience, he’d be hard to beat out, all the while knowing how difficult Kyle’s scheme is. All you lament people that want to attack me with no relevancy in your reasoning really need to stop. Y’all just sound, well, uneducated!
@@gameused881 holy shit dude! We are talking about this draft…. THIS DRAFT!!! get out of the past and with today… there was no lineman worth picking at 31 in this draft! Go put a rooster in your holster and stop over thinking everything just to SOUND smart.
@@gameused881 and you are stating one guy in the last how many years? And how many of those were drafted top 15 in the draft? Because the last 5 years the 49ers have been picking at the end of the line, not top 15.
Kyle Crabbs had a late 1/early 2 on Pearsall. His predraft report, and thoughts about the fit with the Niners, got me pretty hype for the pick. So there was at least one quality draft analyst who didn’t think Slick Rick was a reach!
WRs that get 150+ targets per year don’t last Michael Thomas then Justin Jefferson I wouldn’t be surprised to see CeeDee Lamb go down this year and Amon-Ra St. Brown next year
Players think they are negotiating against the team but really they are negotiating against their teammates because of the salary cap. Every extra dollar they try to squeeze out of the team is coming out of a teammate's share not the owner's. But their egos get in the way and they just want to be highest paid.
The deebo contract is really what's holding up aiyuk's. To be honest, 99% of players want to earn as much as they can while they can. It's a job at the end of the day. Money, recognition, and then Super Bowl ring is probably their priority.
@@wilj9976 there is nothing about Deebo that is holding up Aiyuk. Every player who is up for an extension is not signed by this part of the off-season. This is what the 49ers ALWAYS DO. Don't know how Deebo gets any blame for this at all. He went through this exact same thing 2 off-seasons ago. Who was to blame then?
@TOdoubledizzle24 you're misinterpreting what I said to an extent. I'm saying that since deebo is already taking a huge chunk of the WR pie, they won't want to have 2Wr making 28 million each. You are not wrong. They wait, and the price keeps going up as others get signed. They wait entirely, too long to sign players.
Puni will be a starter by the end of the year. This years class should be applying pressure. I always loved that Harbaugh would preach about Iron sharpening Iron.
