Hi thank you for the question! I didn't include the spine because I wanted to add the extra pages. I wanted to cut the covers equal and that left the spine out. Some of the books I find the spines are already weak too, so I just cut them out. But there is no right way to make these journals, just what your creative heart thinks! Hope that helps!
