Excellent podcast and deserves many more views from the passionate fan base that the Arsenal women's team enjoys. The Arsenal women's squad looks very strong in most positions this season so fingers crossed for a very successful season 🤞
Probably one of the most diverse squads we've had for years in terms of skill set and a lot of promising young talent to nurture. Jonas has a huge opportunity to seal himself as a potential AWFC GOAT if he manages us well over this season and the next. He really has a chance in silencing the critics (I am one).
Those who hope to see Rosa often on the field will be very disappointed because we already have a passive with young players who waited for their second season to get more playing time and last year our starting midfielder was 6Walti 8Pelova 10Little and the backup on the bench most frequently was Frida I think Kyra will play more often this season but that on the return of Vic the central trio will reform
Little to no Pelova this season. She was injured in June, and ACLs always take at least nine months. Miedema, Mead, Williamson, and countless other top players was out for over a year. Maanum and Cooney-Cross will probably play before Kafaji, but if there's CL this year, there will be a bigger need for rotation, so Kafaji might get fair amounts of minutes. Besides, Little and Wälti are prone to smaller and bigger injuries. They are getting older.
@@bard6184 I know but I don’t feel like it’s the same severity of injuries as the other players because Vic walked without crutches very quickly but without Vic Frida is Jonas’ player it will be her in 10 I’m convinced with Little and Walti, Jonas will privilege the experience
@@14kimlee He can prefer Little and Wälti as much as he wants - doesn't matter if they're out with injuries or fatigue. And that will happen when you play mid-week and weekend. Especially so to older players. Kafaji's competition will be Little and Maanum; Wälti and Cooney-Cross are defensive midfielders. Eidevall should rotate if there's CL, and that rotation should include Kafaji quite a lot. Anyway, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Rangers fan here last night just showed you the gap between England womens team and ours its bigger than the men. You had known internationals on your bench and we had 16 year olds on our bench (and the pitch). On the plus side my English team is Arsenal both men and ladies so well done 👏👏👏 🏴🇬🇧🏴.
I just hope Kuhl comes good this season and becomes a starter for us. She is such a creative player can offer us so many solutions in the tight games against compact defenses this season.
you say they have world class players, well how come they don't win anything (other than Conti?) Injuries? - Chelsea and Man City had lots of injuries too. So, it must be the manager? Build on it? Build on what? Blowing easy games (West Ham.) Having to put Stina out at the end of the game to salvage something. Hopefully, my bitterness will be put to rest and they will prove you right.
I'm impressed by the Mariona profiling from u guys, she is a very versatile player, more of a no.10 in style, yes this season she's played from CF,but her n Salma alternate a lot,I think she's gonna come good for u guys
I definitely agree with the point about 'women specific mech' l have to have 'women' printed on the back of all my shirts. Although l am an Arsenal fan across all areas 😊
I was behind the goal (because for some reason l was unable to buy tickets for my usual North Bank position) when Viv scored her iconic goal, set up by her partner. I have to say lve never felt so emotional at a match before. I just wanted to run over to the bench and scream at them "why is she leaving us ?" l still feel like crying every time it comes up .... but lm glad l wasn't in the North Bank on that occasion, as you said its an 'l was there' moment and lve even captured myself in a freeze frame when the girls where celebrating the goal 💪
In the 30 mins Viv was on the pitch, we looked more coherent than we have for much of the season. Instead of passing back or sideways, there were positive, quick passes into attacking positions and the players themselves were all on the front foot where before there was a disconnect for when players make the runs or not. She made a pass out of pressure from LB to RB and I haven't anyone do that this season. Jonas says he wants to get a player who creates space and creates chances, well he had one and he didn't want to use her. Viv will continue to be prolific, thats just the player she is and for us Arsenal fans we have to watch her do that at a rival. I think the one of worst things that happened by Arsenal not offering a contract was the implication she isn't capable anymore and that has let so many take that view, but as she said, she doesn't have anything to prove. The pressure is on Jonas and Arsenal now, they miscalculated how many fans are fans of Arsenal because of her and how she plays. I'm still perplexed that the club treated her this way.
He wants a player who creates space by identifying the space and running into it to receive through passes and crosses. The team is driven to play crosses to the point where they keep doing it even if it doesn't work (look back at games against liverpool, leceister, spurs, chelsea) Beth Mead has the most creativity to create space but is muzzled by being a winger. You can see Beth's disappoint time and time over when no one can finish off her crosses. Jonas is looking for tall people (iledsted, russo, stina) for headers to crosses. He's looking for runners ( frida, stina). Viv breaking domestic and international records as a 9 but she doesn't execute his gameplan the way he wants so was shifted her to a 10 and even trying her as a wingback. Renewing her contract would be too expensive for a bench warmer waiting to sub in when someone's injured. Even Victoria has displaced Viv in thebmidfied. Jonas is not gonna drop mead, russo, foord, little, frida, pelova so there's just space for Viv
Rosie is so funny. I mean she knows nothing about football and I’m shocked anyone would employ her based on her journalistic skills. Loved todays article picking on Wolves… guessing one of our fans spat on her back and left without saying goodbye. Costa wasn’t a waste because he provided so much off the field for the men and even the women. He made a group of our player go watch and support them. He also helped Neto. And Hwang. Which we see now this season. One is the top assister and chance creator in the league and the other has scored 6 goals in the last 9 games. edit: I would say this to her on twitter but it seems like her account is dead. Last post being April fools ahaha. I also laugh that she is one of those people that use catfish style pfps. I feel for any poor guy expecting the picture and getting old school Adele.
Jill has an amazing "must follow" Twitter account which isn't just brilliant for Arsenal fans, but for anyone who is fascinated by the history of football.
I remember growing up when Lee Dixon played for us and I remember the joy I used to get when he would play and he wore his heart on his sleeve when he played so passionate about the badge something alot of players lack now ❤️
I was at that game. I know live in Australia and this was the only Arsenal game on when I was back in the UK. got the train to Sheffield from London in the afternoon. freezing cold. shit game. no trains back that night so had to stay in a hotel. Back to London the next day. there were a lot of us up there who had to do the same thing and it cost us a fortune. the team back then really didn't deserve the support they were getting.
