The title hit!! I have 2 kids tho but I was fooled by the fairytale they sell....but I cant lie I dont regret it....but being single has been amazing for me after a 13 yr marriage that ended. These times, it's "easier" to just focus on yourself and your goals and build and grow along the way.
Sometimes when you've been hurt you decide to be alone. I have suffered with mental illness my entire life. I came "out" to my very supportive family nearly 30yrs ago. Met a few friends that i "thought" were friends and realized they were just using me for their own means. Never called me to ask how i was doing, never wanted to visit me to hang out. It was always me putting in the effort. Had a couple of relationships one i nearly got raped in, another i was cheated on for 6 months out of 2yrs of dating. And the last one i was abruptly dumped for no good reason and he was one i thought i would honestly marry at some point. So here i am close to 50 and i'm alone. No friends, my mom died of pancreatic cancer who was my rock 2yrs ago. I moved in with my elderly dad who i'm close to to take care of him. Problem is after my last relationship i've been VERY withdrawn from society. As i mentioned earlier i suffer from mental illness, i have bi polar disorder, social anxiety, minor ocd, and have minor to mild agoraphobia in large crowd situations. I'm on medication and in therapy and for the most part it's all under control. I don't consider myself a slow or stupid individual. In fact, i've been told i'm very bright, articulate, i love music and was blessed with a voice so i do sing. I also love wildlife and animals and have studied birds and their behavior for the past 45yrs. Even teaching it to kids at some points in my life. But yet i prefer being alone i just don't feel comfortable interacting for very long with people. I have a hard time looking at someone in the face when i'm talking. However, despite all that when i do make friends i am VERY loyal and typically always their for that individual. That's just the type of person i am all in or nothing at all. I live a very black and white with no gray lifestyle. And change is very difficult for me to accept as i prefer routine. Therefore, i don't think i'm a "chosen" individual as this man says people who are loners tend to be. I think i just don't relate well with others unless i can unequivocally trust them. And since i've been burned quite a bit through my life by people mostly men since i'm gay. I see my social world closing as i get older and older. I'm not sure if i'm doing it and prefer it that way or it's just society which is forcing me into this pattern. One thing i can say is if you don't make an effort in terms of what i've learned through therapy things don't get easier. Especially, issues and problems like mine. It's finding the "right" individuals though and that's the hardest part. People who are non-judgemental or aren't overly critical as i just don't deal well with that. I think that's the hardest part of finding friends much less a long term partner you love that are like that. But as i've read others comments you keep going. Why...? Because you have to. Were all put here on this earth for a reason and i do believe their is a right person for everyone be it one friend or one partner. It's the journey of finding that individual who gets YOU and accepts YOU for YOU that's the hardest part. Someone who doesn't want to change YOU but accepts YOU for who YOU are. That's pretty much where i am in life at nearly 50yrs of age. Like me for who i am not what you want me to be. Or else yeah i'd rather be alone. It's a cynical outlook but it's better than getting hurt constantly. And that's unfortunately how walls and barriers are built around oneself. You had better come with a chisel in hand because it's not going to be easy to break down.
Youve bought into the lie that the guns are the problem. There are over three times the amount of guns than cars in the states, but less than 10% of the casualties. I agree 1 is too many. I left there almost nine years ago, for many of the same reasons.
If you're feeling lonely and having a hard time connecting with people, you know that it doesn't have to be. There's a reason for that. Are you emotionally available to other people and thus chill to be with? Are you a ppl-pleaser which makes genuine interactions with others impossible? Have you considered that you might be autistic and that non-autistic people will never really get you and might mistreat you because of that? Do you suffer from trauma and deal with it in a way that shut you off from many social interaction and others think of you like a robot and avoid you?
I'm sorry u lost yor frend in the war wen u had so few.. but hang in there bro u a good dude so focus on yourself trying to b best version of yourself. Not that u ain't right now. But then life will fall in place and u only need 1or2 good friends. That's really all I have. It seems older I get less frends.i have.

No, you cant trust anyone who steals your money. We all need money to live, cost of living is high, anyone who takes your livelihood that you worked honestly and hard for, for themselves does not respect or care about you whatsoever. That's a dealbreaker for me right there, because I've never stolen money from people I personally cared for, but I've been stolen from so I know how it feels. Even if they pay you back the relationship is damaged. Dont care how many years of friendship, if we grew up and went through school together, that's it man
Travel abroad. America can be such a toxic stressful and depressing place for us men. Go to D.R 🇩🇴 for a week and tell us how you feel when you get back brother ✌🏽
I'm 21 years old, probably I'm gonna end up like you my bro, but I'm glad there are more people like me, I only hope happiness for all of us, cause our mind maybe put us in some bad place, but that's only thoughts, imagination, life can be more better for us than what we think, take care everyone like us, keep going brothers :)
