They really are. Thing is, you go out thinking you're not gonna get involved but if you're too slow, you just get crazy people overtaking you and squeezing in in front, halving your stopping distance. @@ricksroyalrides123 Right where that Himalayan went across you is the original bridge crossing I assume. If you go on Google maps there are loads of mopeds and scooters on it. However half way across Google maps taxe you back to the car bridge. Looking at where the Himi rider went left and before I can't see any signs advising riders to go that way.
Ha, well done Simon. There must have been a sign saying no 2 wheelers on the main bridge as that how I knew we weren't supposed to be there! But you're right, I saw no signs pointing to the left. I guess if you're local, you just know!

Bloody amazing ride. The houses at the end are in such a great place to have that literally on their door step. I'm not afraid of heights myself just afraid of hitting the floor from a great height😂☺
😂😂 Yeah, I think that's the bit that puts me off! To think I almost missed that part of the ride. I'd been out all day and my sat nav had a paddy and started sending me to the camp site. I was literally 5 mins away from the start but had no idea! So glad I didn't follow it. It made my day finding that gem. Thanks for the comment mate. Ride safe.
Great ride Rick and your time with the pony was almost magical I think. Take a bag of apples next time and the ponies will love you forever mate 🙂 I'm the same as you with heights. I get vertigo standing on a thick carpet!!! lol When I took my Himalayan 411 along the Military Road, here on the Isle of Wight, I got to the shear cliffs at Freshwater Bay and the drop to the sea was hundreds of feet and only about 3 yards to my left. My rear end did one too and I had to keep saying to myself, 'It's only a road' as well. Good to face these things but it doesn't feel that way at the time eh! 🙂
Thanks for your comment mate. Yeah, I didn't want to leave that pony. I went back the next day but couldn't see him. I should always have a packet of polos in my pocket, just in case! I'm not sure I'd be able to do the Military road you talk about! Sounds harrowing with the back sliding out as well. There's only so much adventure I can handle! Ride safe mate. Hi Rick, few upgrades I would suggest: 1- iridium spark plug. 2- K&N air filter. 3- Hitchcocks 50's silencer (with baffles fitted) other wise far too loud leaving your ears will be buzzin. nice 1 m8
Great video with great bikes! I have a very late Battle Green Classic 500 and Himalayan 411. I think they tick all the boxes, as would the 500 with a Scram 411. The only 3rd bike I'd consider would be an Interceptor. Certainly not a new Classic 350 as it is just too fake in my opinion. The frame works far better with the Meteor and Hunter because that is was what it was designed for. Just my view. Love your videos. Really enjoyable and honest fun mate 🙂
Thanks for your comment mate. Much appreciated. As yet, I haven't tried any of the 650 range. I might be tempted by the 650 classic but I prefer the big singles and I think the price will put me off. I like the smaller, cheaper models because they don't break the bank! I actually found the 350 classic really enjoyable but couldn't resist the black classic 500. I really get sucked in by the looks and I love that yellow meteor for that reason! Ride safe mate.
Would you say the Meteor is tuned slightly differently to the Classic 350 to give it a cruiser style ride? Wouldn't it be nice if the J series engine were upped to 500 cc with the same bore and stroke ratio. Get it up to maybe 30 hp + a little bit?
@@simonchilli2088 that would be a great idea but I doubt it will happen. The new 350's are more usable than the old 500's. They seem to be much happier at 60 and above than my 500. It's weird because my old 500 bullet smoothed out at 60, but my classic is still pretty vibey. You're right, if they could get a 500 into the 350 chaccis they'd be onto a winner. Hard to tell re the meteor tuning. I'd say it is a bit softer but it was quite a while ago, I rode the 350 classic. I think they're all great bikes for the money. Happy riding mate.

Hi thought you might of tried the guerilla out that is my favourite re at the moment be nice if they bring it out as a 650 so it’s got bit more poke next year im going to look at one the shotgun is is another favourite of mine ideal bikes for when your getting older easier to manoeuvre and not all the complicated electronics on them all lovely bikes though the RE I think ride safe mate
Thanks mate. My very rough plan was to go and ride the guerilla and himmie 450 back to back and review them. Unfortunately my planning lacks a lot to be desired and the guerilla was booked out and the himmie demo behind a load of bikes. I kinda of left it to chance as I'd be happy taking any RE out. I've always fancied a yellow meteor so was happy to ride that. I almost took the shotgun out. I will go back and try the guerilla but feel it's a bit of a departure for RE. Happy riding mate.
How long have you had the scram? Maybe the time is right?! I went the other way. Had a bullet for 5 years, then sold and bought a scram. Then I missed the thump of the bullet, so bought the classic. I'm sure you'll love the 500. Enjoy your ride.

Thanks mate. A couple of people suggested it, but, personally I like the fact that you just let the fi sort everything out. I haven't had any experience setting carbs up and I just wanted to get the bike back on the road to enjoy. I do know people that have done it and are happy. 👍
I just dont get the hype over this road its so easy 2 hairpins and it's all over get yourself over to the Pyrenees and ride hairpins for 30 mins solid .
Hi Dave. I don't know that anyone said it's a hard road. 🤷♂️ And personally I don't ride roads because they're hard or easy, I just ride to enjoy them and the scenery. Happy riding mate.

That's exactly what I said to James. If you get decent weather, you're quids in. 👌 We've been lucky with Wales so far but we did get caught coming home once where it started heavy raining on the Severn bridge and didn't stop until we got to Maidstone. Great fix. Old School ADV Rider has a great video where he takes apart his broken fuel pump from his Classic 500 (a broken nozzle again) and fits the motor from this into the one from his Himalayan, where the motor had failed. Not a too difficult job by the looks of it, so if your motor should fail on your new pump and you kept your old one, perhaps you could do the same. Just a thought 🙂
That's a great idea. I almost bought just the bottom part (with the nozzle) but it worked out at over double the price! I'll certainly keep the old one. There is also a fix I've seen where you cut off the nozzle at the bottom and cut a thread into the pump and fix a metal nozzle. Might be worth a go if I get time, but I just wanted to get the bike on the road as soon as.
That's what I thought! Only just bought the bike, but I did get a good deal on her. But I didn't want to see my good deal disappear with shelling out for the fuel pump.

People do change them back to carb fed, but I'm happy with FI. I don't have the time, skill or patience to be fiddling with floats etc. I just wanna get in the damn thing and ride. 👍

The road past Llyn Brianne to Llandovery (to the left where you saw the "nature reserve" sign) is another terrific bit of road, then you can take a break at the West End Café or the Owl's Nest Diner and continue over the Black Mountain Road (A4069 - the "Top Gear road").
I'm gonna have to go back! Thanks, so we thought the devil's staircase was the top gear road at 1st. We did go to the owls nest the day before but it was shut unfortunately, but went to the west end cafe instead. We rode a stunning road the day before with friends but I think it was the a 40 through sennybridge. I've yet to edit that footage as there's so much of it. You're blessed with gorgeous roads/scenery out there. 👍

I think we were both pleasantly surprised. I had high expectations but little Scrambo surpassed them and Max took one look at the bike before we started and said "it's not really a tourer is it"! But even she was impressed!
