usually the difference will be noticable when slowly picking up speed lower rpms it wont be so accurate and it will feel slugish compared to the bosch which mesures precisely
I wasn't looking this up on purpose it just popped up but I am thinking about going solid on my next engine. (Gen 2 LT1). I don't mind fiddling with the lifters here and there. I barely put miles on the car anyways. I am 24x coil per cyl. With 411 pcm and the coils mounted to the valve covers so it'd be a lil more work but whatever. I could move them if I really wanted to.
I've been running solid rollers on the street for the last 25 years. I check mine before I plan on racing it or every 3 months if I don't have a race. I found it helpful to record the date and what valve(s) that I needed to adjust. If I have to adjust the same valve twice in a row I pull and inspect the rocker, pushrod and lifter. This helped me catch a lifter that was going away before it did any damage. Last year I checked it a few days before a race and the lash was had suddenly grown by 0.010". Now I have pressure fed bushed lifters and shaft rockers so I was 95% sure the problem was a rocker. I pulled the pair on that cylinder and the shaft was wearing. I put the spare pair of rockers on and went racing. After the race I pulled all the rockers and sent them in to be rebuilt. The spring pressure on my engine is 260 on the seat and 700 open so I pay close attention to the lash.
I know this is an old post but just so I'm clear, when i line my timing up at 34 degrees then center the pickup/sensor at the center of the magnet, am i then dropping the distributor in and pointing the rotor at #1 cylinder or leaving it as originally set at tdc and just turning the motor to 34 with dist rotor turning at same time then turn the dist to #1 terminal on cap...small block Mopar.
8 years later and here is something to add, if you aren't practiced like this guy, the way he plants his foot could end up injuring you. You can tell this guy has practiced this approach thousands of times, and has the pace, timing, and balance to do it this way. If you are less practiced, open your body up and give foot a little bit of angle inward. This will help ease the stress placed on the knee when you do this. Godspeed.
Everything works except when I am watching youtube tv. I ran it through an audio optical cable. All apps work fine but when youtube tv comes on, it makes a crazy loud static noise. Any ideas?
I have a question purely out of curiosity I've never ran this stuff so I have no idea do you think it's possible to run maybe the propane and nitrous setup like they do on a diesel maybe that would put heat into the motor thanks
I like to throw all the timing in at peak torque till the ring lands pinch or the Electrode tip melts at least half way. When this occurs…..you are close to the sweet spot.
hey i know this in old video but just curious on how that ls 6014 box is holding up? I have a new in box one that a got for a project years ago and never used. I'm thinking about buying the 24x conversion for my sbc s10 and using the this box and ls coils that I already have to have a kinda of a unique sbc setup. obviously I have to change the firing order.
Lol, you crack me up. I thought i was watching a vid of me! From the cussing after running into shit to the mutha truckas! Im about to dig my 91 out of the field to do a frame off. My poor little truck was in great shape till a guy at work backed into it and then it went through the flood of 19'. It was like ten feet under water for almost 30 days. So its going to be a job.
