Welcome to my channel, Breck DIY. I will be creating various videos on how to fix and maintenance on household items. I also will be creating videos about wood working. I have completed a ton of projects but unfortunately did not create videos. I am thinking of using the pictures of those projects and doing a voice over. Im brand new to creating videos on youtube but im excited for the future!! Thank you for visiting my page and please like & subscribe to my channel, and stay tuned for future videos. Mine looks exactly like this, but will not unscrew! It gets to a stopping point after turning it counterclockwise and I'm scared of busting it. Any recommendarions?
I’m having issues with hot water pressure and everything is brand new. I took the handle off and adjusted to allow for more hot but it did nothing to my pressure. I can’t imagine why a brand new cartridge would be bad, but are there any adjustments I can make on it or something I can check for before completely replacing it? (It is a Pfister)
Sorry for the delay, the notification didn’t alert me. Sometimes from the manufacturer there is plastic over the hot and cold inlets that need to be removed but very rarely. Steve
Sorry didn’t see this comment, depends on the style of plug. Some you have to drop it down to unscrew and some have the little top screw to unscrew in order to get it to be removed. Hope this helps
This was the most straightforward no BS extra explanation video on this repair, thank you sir I greatly appreciate it when real people make videos for real people.
I didn’t know you had to pull down to pop those command strips off so I’ve got gaping holes on my wall now. Should be easy to repair but; in this case, I wish I read the instructions for removing those strips.
Was it high pressured water or just a cup of water? I’ve had a second shut off tied to the same line before, boy that was a surprise when the water hits the back wall.
THANKS SIR, THIS REALLY HELPED ME ALOT! 👍🏽👍🏽 YOU MADE THIS LOOK EASY SO MUCH THAT I ACTUALLY WENT THROUGH WITH IT AND FIXED THE PROBLEM I HAD. ONCE AGAIN THANKS!!!
Simply bad design on them. This is something a midwife could handle but no! Need a project manager, along with the MaxTools truck driving by every hour. 😅
I feel Watco did it way better than a lot of other brands that make the pop/pull up drain stoppers, I’m not a professional plumber but watched 5 or 6 other videos before finding this one which is the same drain I have and is way easier, granted mine is only a year or so old, only time will tell as far as longevity goes! Just my 2 cents.
knob seems to be rusted to the cap part on mine. hard water. These things are a pain. can't get wrench underneath because clearence. will the whole thing just unscrew from the tub or does plug have to be removed first?
@@breckdiy1981 it wasn't. The tub has a cast iron drain with no cleanout that's how old it is. I needed to remove the plug because the drain was clogged with hair. I think the Previous owners put liquid plumber down it rather than removing the plug. The stem rusted to the crossbar as a result.
Lol mine stopped popping out so I twisted it out and it seems a piece is missing from the bottom…. Didn’t know until I watched this video but that makes sense.
Could you explain how to adjust the temperature collar? It’s mentioned in your video description but I didn’t notice any details in the video. My shower will get very hot and when I turn it to cold it gets luke warm, not cold. Thanks
Of course!! It’s actually very easy to do, they yellow collar just pulls straight out towards you and the is like 50 little notches. Each notch is an adjustment. It’s basically a stop for you handle to stop prior to going further to increase or decrease them temp. It’s actually for stop from scalding or burning someone. Hope this helps Steve with BreckDIY
@@breckdiy1981 Hey thanks so much. I am now really stuck with the black threaded piece that I need to keep from the old one to screw into the faucet handle. It is absolutely unremovable from the original cartridge. Any ideas how to get it off? it won’t screw off no matter how hard I try
O No!!! Sorry for the delay, I have covid from work. Do you have an update on the situation? Is it the 2 screws that won’t come out to release the black spacer? Only thing I can think of is if you can get a replacement and cut out the old one. Sorry good luck, keep me posted. Steve
Did you get it out? You can also try a handle side down of an adjustable wrench and place a screw driver between the handles to try and get enough leverage to unscrew the drain. hope this helps.
@@breckdiy1981 I did! Thank you for asking! I've replaced the old drain and am working on the leaky faucet next. (Same tub). After that, I am swapping the shower head.
One observation. You didn't center the valve housing back into the circular cutout hole before you put the two long screws back in. You might want to double check that. It won't affect the function but may allow the entire fixture to be loose enough to let water to get behind the chrome cover and into your wall. Big problem with mold if that happens.
Great video and thank you for your time. I have a question.. I replaced my cartridge but now it's really tight and binding. I didn't gas it, it's jus snug tight.
Thank you!!! Um that’s a new one, I’m curious how hard it was to turn prior to installation. I’m wondering if you got a bad cartridge. I had to replace the whole apartment complex cartridges since they were faulty. They company sent them to me free. They worked but were tough to turn. Hope that helps. BreckDIY
@@breckdiy1981 Yes I definitely need to reach out to them. So before installation it's silky smooth easy no issues till the screw get tight. Loosin them up a bit and it's fine. Crazy right 🙈
@@breckdiy1981 Currently it working perfectly as it should. Turns jus smooth no binding or grinding. Only problem is that I can probably unscrew the screws with my fingers because they are that loose. If I snug them any more it must loose shape and that is what's causing it to binged. It's in there correctly with fangs down and in those side notches. No leaks. I with jus check it once a month 🤷 I'm spending way to much time on this Simple job lol
Great video! This really helped. I dropped the black piece behind the shower 😩Any suggestions as to where I can get another one? Tried Lowes, Home Depot & local plumbing store, but no luck.
You could try pfister customer service directly and see if you can get one from them. It’s been a few years since I dealt with them directly but they were very helpful when I talked to them. I don’t have the contact I used anymore though sorry. Hopefully this helps, please let me know if it’s works out and for watching. BreckDIY
