Shame they never finished the series. No proof of my theory he was a host the whole time, but I'll say it. He was a host the whole time since season 1. On rare retrospective scenes we saw the original human William. The metaphor and moral of the story being that we were deceived he was a human being the whole time, while obviously, if you asked the heart, he was not. In truth he had lost his humanity even before the transcendence to an artificial body. That's what he doubted the whole time. Himself; and that he might be a host - his greatest fear. Because it seems, in incarnations you do turn to the species, you maltreated as Karma...
Edit: Was he human in the park, would he have shot his daughter? Yeah, I know these kinds of things happen also in the real world... But that's why it's a metaphor. It's just not human. I think he cloned himself shortly before his wife died. The clone stayed with her, while he had fun in the park. I think original human Billy killed himself shortly after his wife's passing. Or he simply fell down one day and died out of alcoholism, age and obvious heartache, so only the host remained alive. And since the host had nothing else to do in the real world, he came back where he belongs and where Will's will was always leading him. Ever searching for that center of a maze - of a hidden answer of an unknown question. Would have season 5 showed us the center of the Maze?
Sad this show has been cancelled I really was waiting for the season finale I hope HBO reconsider this or at least the makers do it with Netflix movie perhaps
Hated how he killed his daughter. That would never happen. Scifi or not, no dad is going to murder his kid just because he suspects she’s a robotic copy. That was just plain stupid.
@@vobeyt I suppose you are right It would be difficult to compare a game like RDR which is built for the sole purpose of telling an incredible story, to a game like Fortnite or apex legends, both of which are built for the sole purpose of having exciting and unique gameplay where you collaborate with and against other people. Keeping this in mind, I still believe RDR2 is the greatest game of all time, because I play games for their story and their depth, not just for the gameplay or because everyone else is playing the game. But I suppose it’s a matter of opinion
Yes, yes he was. The reveal of the 30 year time gap/identify of William & the Man in Black had my jaw dropping, I’d been watching it stoned/causually, but it made me revisit the whole series sober as a whistle and my god it was worth “flipping that pickle”, as Rick would say “the payoff is HUGe”
