We are passionate about wildlife photography. We are also lucky to live in The Chobe, Northern Botswana, where we spend our days out in the wilds of Africa taking care of our guests, who are wildlife photographers of all levels of experience, from all around the world at Pangolin Photo Safaris.
In between, we make videos for our channel which feature photography tips, gear reviews, safari adventures and editing tutorials.
We love teaching wildlife photography but we also enjoy learning from our guests on safari in Botswana and the other African countries that we visit.
Visit www.pangolinphoto.com for more information on what we do.
Always nice your Video and i am sure i will come back someday a new photo challengers for next year the Cats from Africa Lion Leopard Cheetahs .........
It's really interesting to hear what people think is considered a "professional" camera. I started my photography career shooting weddings at ISO 100, and occasionally 800, on a Minolta X-700 manual focus camera. I think I paid $300 for the camera, and I still have it after 25 years. I am blown away at what we can do with cameras these days. I just bought my first mirrorless camera, a 10 year old Olympus E-M1, after shooting Canon full frame and APS-C cameras since the early 2000's. I paid $200 USD for it, and I couldn't be more impressed! I'm selling all of my Canon gear and investing in OM. If anyone is concerned about image quality, there are plenty of videos out there exploring that topic. I did some pixel-peeping, and I honestly can't tell the difference between M4/3 and Canon full frame cameras. Sorry if that makes someone mad, but that is reality.
This is a very informative video, only I've spent like 10 minuets trying too figure out what it is that's leaking out of her camera onto the table...any ideas? Yeah, that puzzled me too! One thing I have found that puzzles me when shooting in manual with Auto-ISO is that sometimes it makes an exposure that is too overexposed and I have found that using the exposure lock button, as odd as it sounds can help with controlling highlights/shadows. One question I have is does the battery life in mirrorless cameras control the amount of power too maintain a steady shutter speed as the battery power goes down or is it like the olden days when the shutter speed goes down when the battery level goes out?
This entire video would be null and void if Canon or Nikon or Sony made a "current" 150-400 OR 200-500 with a built in tele, that was priced in the $7,500.00 dollar range. Those 3 companies have lens $1000 to 3,000 and jump 10,000 to 20,000 leaving a gap in price and quality that OM System NAILED with their big white. In other words, if OM S came out with a full frame, featured like the new OM 1 ii and $9,500 200-600 with 1.4 switch on it............watch out Canon, Sony, Nikon at least for wildlife.
Hey, I noticed that the age limit for the challenge is set at 18 and above, and I completely understand the reasons for this policy. However, I am 15 years old and genuinely eager to participate. I believe that photography is about creativity and perspective rather than age. If possible, I would love to know if there’s any flexibility regarding the age limit or if there are ways for younger photographers like myself to get involved. Thank you for considering my request. I truly admire your work and the impact it has on wildlife conservation. Realy Looking Forward to the competition! Warm regards, Rishi Rambhatla
I recently heard: stop worry about depth of field and start worry about depth of emotion. So true for me. The photos that I love the most may not be technically perfect, but they evoke an emotion. It has taken me time to slow down, temper my excitement, and work the subject, light and background. It’s so nice when you get a cooperative subject!
What about a true amateur competition for those who make NO money from their photography. Those who enjoy photography and do it for the pleasure. Search all last years winners and highly commended?
To be honest thats 99.9% of entrants and as far as i know 100% of previous winners. I dont want to penalise someone though that sold one image to someone to print.
@@PangolinWildlife Not sure I agree with you. What about those who have sites selling photos? Think they might sell more that one image. PS I do love your site and enjoy the videos but I will not be sending any entries this year.
Toby, I would love to win a free photo safari, but I’m not sure my photography skills are up to the challenge. I’ve followed your channel for some time, and the level of wildlife photography I’ve seen is magnificent. I subscribe to your channel, and I watch many of the instructional videos your staff puts together. It seems that successful wildlife photography in Africa benefits from the same mantra as that in real estate. It is all about location, location, location. Taking a winning photograph with the advantage of the African experience seems easier than shooting at my local zoo or drive-through safari. Thank you for a very informative video about the contest. Your personality comes across as very endearing. Larry from Texas
@@PangolinWildlife I found a really good one just the other day. I thought I had nothing but grass, untill I looked at the following photo where it could be seen. Unfortunately, taken October 2022. aybe I should look at my photos with a little more alacrity. Let me know if you need a poster child for it.
@@matrishvaIt has been done before but could have another go as far as I’m concerned. They have done Hi & Low Key images. Pretty sure they have done in motion or some type of interacting or doing their thing type already too!

Hello... I've watched a handful of your videos and it gets me inspred. Even though I've been involved with photography for a long time I like to watch utube videos to keep up to date so to speak especially with the numerous functionally of todays cameras.
I think that you just take bad thing from the 90d and put them into daylight without saying anything bad about the 7d also 18 megapixels you cant even crop that
