Building boats exclusively from wood, Van Dam ensures craftsmanship lives on as an art form for you and future generations to enjoy. We make only one of each build, custom to each owner.
It has been called a master craftsman’s art form. At Van Dam Custom Boats, we use the process of cold molding to build all of our one-in-the-world watercraft. This process involves the utilization of room temperature (cold), cured, epoxy adhesive to laminate many thin layers of wood together - creating the hull and structural elements of our boats. By marrying legacy craftsmanship with sound engineering principles, we are able to construct vessels that are stronger, lighter and more durable than boats built via methods used by other builders. Van Dam Custom Boats are built for generational enjoyment and constructed to stand the test of time.
Awesome boats you are building! Very cool to see classic style in new boats. Subscribed! I got into 1980s direct drive Supras a few years back, bought and sold two so far. I love working on them, both of them went to friends when sold. First needs a stringer rebuild, other was already restored so wasn’t much I could improve. I really enjoy refurbishing work on any cool machines so I am shifting the focus of my service business to more mechanical repair than home remodeling stuff. I’m really starting to fall in love with the 50s and 60s wooden launches and runabouts so that might be my one of my next boat projects. Keep up the good work and post more videos!
We definitely will be. We were just focusing on the engines this time around. Yes, VZ, like all of the rest of our builds, is a one of one commission build.
I want to see Five 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 in person!!! Can a Van Dam fan know when a sea trial time is? Watch from the dock or launch or something… Great video! Appreciate you all!!!
Hi Josh! Thank you for your continued support! We will begin sea trials next week. Time to be determined. The best I can tell you is that we will have to have some nice, calm weather and it will probably be in the mornings.
Did a tour of Ben's dad's shop when he first started. Took out west Michigan group out of traverse city , part of the antique and classic boat society.I new then they were bound for EXCELLENCE...and they proved me right...Congratulations to Ben and the whole team 👍
