I had an accident on March 25, 2021. I broke my tibia and fibula. The flesh got infected and cut it out through all the operations. Later, new skin and flesh were formed. Through 8 operations. I had Ilizarov on my leg for 10 months. But after opening, my ankle was fixed. Done. No movement. I give therapy for a few days but there is no improvement. The doctor said, he wanted to do ankle fusion through operation, but it is too late. And he said, if I feel worse, I can do ankle replacement. Now I Can't walk properly, have to dig a bit. And a lot of pain. Please tell me what should I do. Will it slowly get better like this? Or ankle fusion or ankle replacement. Which one would be better. My mind is very bad. I can't imagine that I will be like this for the rest of my life. I want to be normal again.
I had ankle fusion in march 2020, had to have further surgery with more metalwork in april 2021 which failed too. Had yet more surgery and even more metalwork done in april 2022 and am looking at having to get the screws removed but the bones haven’t fully healed even now!! I’ve been in an air boot/cast for last 4 years and have had enough!! I’m at the point I just want the limb amputated so I can get on with my life!
