Sioux Falls once used to be The Great Northern Railway (GNR); created by entrepreneur James J. Hill. GNR included the northernmost rail line to the Pacific Ocean. City officials enticed the GNR to Sioux Falls in 1888 by guaranteeing $77,000 for the purchase of depots grounds and right-of-way. At this time, Sioux Falls was served by five major railroads. The Great Northern merged with two other railroads in 1970 to become the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF).

Everyone has different opinions with them. However, I support them, they reduce amount on snow in your driveway but *usually* doesn't eliminate all of it.

BNSF needs to reacquire 2 of its old E9s and totally rebuild them, painting them in original CB&Q colors. Those would be a perfect match for this train!

Interesting, a multiple-track crossing without gates.
@zachlundy3504
@zachlundy3504 8 лет назад
+38yofrmut Surprisingly there is one crossing in town that has gate. This particular crossing is right in the middle of the yard.
@38yofrmut
@38yofrmut 8 лет назад
+Zach Lundy The signals probably get activated constantly with the locomotives moving cars around frequently without any part of the car or locomotive actually on the crossing obstructing vehicular traffic. & most of the moving trains, even those that are passing through, probably go slow. Both factors probably make it unnecessary to require gates.
