Greetings from my Sunnyside Studio 90 mins east of Toronto 🇨🇦 -- I'm Catherine. I take old books and transform them into cool journals. I rescue them from thrift stores, rummage sales, the recycle box or the burn pile. I rebuild and re-purpose them for another 100 years of life and love. I do my best to use all second hand materials to create every part of my unique journals.
Fair warning: I record using my phone. I hit start and I hit stop, and whatever is there, that's my episode for the day. It's not professional and it's about as good as it's going to get.

I am joyfully upfront that I do my very best to be an inclusive, supportive channel. I hope ALL folks-- LGBTQ+, BIPOC, all nationalities, religions and non-religions, and cultures feel welcome here. I believe Jewell's wise words when she said "In the end, only kindness matters." 🤓🎨📚✂❤️🐾🏳⚧🏳🌈🌈 she/her
Oh I remember both of those! And you could never go wrong with a box from Laura Secord! My favourite chocolate in the whole box was the maraschino cherry.🍒
I was working when The List went up in your shop - but thats okay - I have a so many ideas for our very own Christmas keepsake. I have been struggling for a different title but coming right back to The List . Can’t come up with a better one ! TY and looking forward lets see whatcha got going now ☀️ ???
Well…I might have to give you that go,d star after all Miss Catherine. The List lives up to everything we all knew she would be. What a beautiful keepsake this journal will be for its forever owner. ❤❤
Wonderful finds and hello from a fellow Ontario junk journalist lol!! I wonder if it was my shop where you had slides in your cart! Eek! Look forward to seeing more treasures!!❤️
Hi! We had a wonderful weekend with our grandsons spending the weekend with us. We were totally exhausted but it is so worth it❤. They’re 7 and 10 yrs. now. The weather has finally dipped to the 80’s here in The Woodlands, TX with lows in the 50s and 60s. A few more weeks and we should have some truly autumnal weather. Thanks for sharing.👋 see you soon.
Sweet mercy. This will be a “grab a beverage of choice and sit back kind of” flip through. I have seen you make naked journals before and this was supposed to be one….FAILED. No gold star for you Missy. 😂😂♥️♥️
Gorgeous Catherine! The hardware on the cover goes so well with it. I love all of the Tim Holtz Halloween and Christmas ephemera. I used the Halloween ephemera on the cards I made. You just can't find a comparison to his vintage type ephemera! I love it all and I love this book!
Well that was certainly a splendid way to start my Saturday. A fresh cup of coffee, avocado toast, and mucking up.i wonder how many people in Wyoming would understand what muck'n up a map with Catherine would mean? 😂😂🤣🤣 Thank you ❤
Catherine it may take you awhile to get a journal done but your attention to detail is amazing. Whoever get this journal is truly getting a piece of art. You should be very proud of what you do as you do amazing work. I’m a fan from Alberta Canada 🇨🇦💕
This journal is looking so beautiful and so unique! Inking the lace tabs is such a good idea. Your work is always so amazing Catherine. I think that you and Nancy are the best in the business so to speak! I was happy to see a video this morning from you because this is a morning errand day for me and in the afternoon the grocery store is on my agenda. Whoopee! At least you brightened my busy day ahead so thank you and now I'm off!
The List cover is just “beyond”. Your jingle bell is perfect. I love the true jingle sound. The List will not be scantily clad but dressed for a Christmas ball. ❤❤
GM ! This is coming right along with. I have so many ideas for my Grandson’s book ! This is his first xmas .You have inspired a Tradition for him. Every year Santa will accidentally drop something important while delivering to Kelly’s house . Kelly will have to return it to the NP . Grandma will keep it and when he is 18 I will give it all to him for his family someday. Collecting a handkerchief & gold rim eyeglasses -from his Great Grandma that belonged to his Great Grandpa & I will embroider Santa’s initials. I will fill this with treasure from all sides of his family. This is going to be fun keepsake for years to come - sign of the times things ( COVID vaccine ) a history of past & present . I am off to work (: Happy Thursday to you.
I remember you putting The List away last year. I am thrilled that you are starting your Christmas journals early. As far as I am concerned, it is never too early for Christmas journal making. ❤❤
