We love this when KAET Channel 8 in Phoenix (now Arizona PBS) once had Create TV Channel on 8.2, on January 1, 2012, the 8.2 subchannel dropped Create TV Channel and went independent to become Arizona PBS Life to this day.
I remember when they all went out on tour and the mail order ticket lottery for the concerts left some people pretty preturbed until Michael stepped in and had it fixed up a bit. It was never going to be approved for myself so I didn't bother to ask about going. I would've knocked them all dead in my knockoff pleather thriller jacket. Michael was lucky. 😂
THANK YOU for posting this. We watched this as it happened, at a relative's house near San Francisco. I was 26. I remember being transported by the closing music and the overhead shots of thousands of participants as they took to the field to dance in unscripted joy. I remember seeking out the LP album of the music, because that was the only available account of the experience. And I remember wondering if I'd ever actually see this broadcast again. I searched, several times, but found nothing - until this evening, when I was swept back nearly 50 years to the very images and sounds I recalled.
They should have played their best tunes and not messed around that much. People honestly thought they were a comedy act like the Monkeys instead of a real top musical act. And they were one of the best bands ever, their music was complicated in some songs and they had 17 top 20 hits but they weren't taken to seriously in America because of their antics. They should have played Night Boat to Cairo and My Girl even though I love One Step, but I thought it was their big chance to break there. Madness toured quite a lot over in the USA over the years but I guess there wasn't a lot of money put into marketing them over there as maybe the record company thought that their personality would have brought them a much higher fan base. Madness were actually one of the best live bands around, and they were all very good musicians by the 2nd album. As far as I'm concerned, they wrote the most melodic tunes since the Beatles came around and they had the most top ten hits but only had one no. 1 which tells me that their management was basically shit.
No wonder I Love this song a lot from the album Victory. I Love the Video Body and Wow. I didn't know Michael Peter's choreographed it. Love the dance a lot. And it was nice to see Tito dancing. Rest in Peace Michael Peters and Pappa Tito. I truly wish Michael and Jermaine were in it. And also Rest In Peace The King of Pop. ❤❤❤
Oh my God I've been looking for this episode for so many years I've lost count! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING IT!!! By any chance do you have the rest of the episode to be able to post?
@@Mickeys-Media It's alright but after reading my own comment I feel I should explain myself just a bit. The first time I saw this interview I was 13 years old, I am now 55 and this is the first time I've seen this interview since it first aired. In fact I loved this episode so much that I recorded it on a cassette tape back then; hence the reason I am so excited to be able to watch it again. I was just holding out hope that you had the rest of it but it's alright that you don't b/c you have given me such a wonderful gift in the form of this memory. Thank you so much.
Looks like they were having fun shooting this. The song sounds like "Wanna be starting something". Jussie Smollett could totally play Michael Peters in a biopic.
I remember the first time I saw that Godley and Creme video. It freaking BLEW MY MIND - I was in college though, so I could’ve been high… I still love the song though. And, Dead or Alive?! Amazing. Of course we’re all just romanticizing the 80’s - we went through some shit then too, but I still wanna go back.
MJ was so famous that they literally talked about this like it was the biggest controversy of all time just to boost ratings. I remember how famous he was and there's nobody since who has been any greater. Glad I lived through this time.
Back then everybody took the music industry and MTV so serious... its quite strange...the music and performances in Purple Rain were good, the rest was boring and got more B movie vibes.. the acting was horrible and to some degree its was very sexist..
Saw them in ‘77, ‘78, & ‘81. With the 3 Wilson brothers doing harmony it was fantastic. Even with Brian’s behavior & Dennis being out of his mind at one show, they were great concerts. At one of these poor Brian was at 300lbs & obviously not right. He stood in front of 11,000 with his bass slung across his chest & casually stuck his finger waaayyy up his nose picking a booger. Then took off the bass & walked off stage. They took a break. Mike Love announced after about 30 minutes “If Brian Wilson is still in the building will he please come to the stage?” He didn’t. They played fine without him.
