"Scarface 2" is one of my favorite disses. Cuban link tells the story of scarface, but at the same time hes talking about his beef with fat joe. Its wild, story telling wise. Sucks cuban link fell off and stopped really grindin like he should of. Dude was a beast
Nah you must be young lol ... we've had big 3's, big 4's, big 5's lol like the 90's for example .. the 3 headed monster back then was Snoop, BIG and Pac .. late 90's it was Jay-Z, DMX and Mase ... early 2000's was Ja Rule, Eminem and Nelly .. then it was 50 Cent, Kanye and Ludacris ... then it was Lil Wayne, Game and ...
Where do you think diss tracks will go in the future in the wake of disses like "Meet the Grahams" or "Adidon"? Do you think the "big reveal" genre of diss track will stick around, or do you think it'll eventually evolve into something else? What I really like about "Not like us" is that it proved Kendrick can write a winning diss against Drake without having to dig up skeletons only Nardwuar could find. Similarly, Gucci's diss towards Jeezy. Telling him "you're the reason I killed this man and made his son a bastard, now live with that" isn't such a big reveal, but it cuts to the core so ruthlessly that it belongs up there in the top 10 disses, in my opinion. Do you think the "big reveal" genre of diss track will stick around, or do you think it'll eventually evolve into something else? Great video btw, I love the timeline you lay out and the evolution of disses that you highlighted!
I think for super high calibur rappers the big reveals will stick around and always be expected from people but maybe not delivered. I can see them perhaps just getting more elaborate as time goes on if anything. If anything has come out of this beef is that It's proven that if you want to get to the top you're going to have to possibly make some enemies and not hold back to get there. We established hiphop is competative and without that competativeness you get stagnation as people have been feeling in the last few years. Competition hopfully will breed some interesting future vililans and heros for the genre that will keep it evolving.
As good as JCole is, I don't think he ever got the hunger / "aggression" to be a great. Dont get it twisted, he's dedicated to his craft production wise and good lyrically but he isn't fully locked in
I don’t think Kendrick will address the allegations that Drake levied against him for two reasons: 1 being that he predicted that those types of allegations would come from Drake and 2 the way he framed Drake as an unreliable narrator that Drake himself went on to prove.
Drake should have never been considered because he dont even write his own stuff🤷🏽♀️! YALL GASSED that poor boy up to the point of oblivion FOR YEARS & he got WASHED by a real EMCEE….
The next gen goats should be Travis, JID, Denzel Curry. Guys like Carti don’t deserve to be compared to guys like Cole, Drake, or Kendrick, they are rappers, Carti just does drugs and makes noises over beats, it’s ridiculous how famous he is for how low quality and unintelligent the music is
The fact that you said denzel and JID says a lot about your viewpoint in rap, and add that with intelligence on some bethesda shit pretty much sums up the backpacker in you more. I'm not big on carti but the fact remains niggas really don't listen to these three. Hell even the last big 3, how can you be considered the best when litteraly every nigga that came out in the 10s is the total opposite. Sounds like some industry marketing shit.
It's crazy thinking that neither Kendrick, Drake, or Cole are from NY. Whole genre came from there and was dominated by NY artists for so long, but now less and less mainstream rap artists are from NY
Euphoria > Push ups 6:16 > Taylor made Meet the grahams > family matters Idk how anyone could say drake has won any yet. Family matters is the best club song so far, but a 5/10 diss.
honestly even though drake dropped 2 songs and kendrick dropped one, its 1-0 kendrick favor imo, push ups didnt really say much in terms of a diss other than kendrick was short and he might cuff kendricks girl. The Ai track drake dropped was so corny it distracted from the actual bars. euphoria overall has been way better in terms of a diss imo, it was punch line after punchline. Even tho kendrick didnt really say anything new in terms of what rap fans new it still had more substance than Drake's disses.
At this point Everyone taking turns saying the same thing about Drake. If Kendrick’s diss dropped 6-8 years ago it would’ve done major damage. Don’t get me wrong, Euphoria was a great song, it just didn’t feel all that there. Drake mentioned it in a lot of his songs that he’s “not bl**k enough.” and the ghostwriting bars are hella old. Drake has the upper hand based on the fact that Kendrick hasn’t had a real beef, so there might be things we don’t know that might be exposed. Whereas everything has already been said about Drake by almost everyone. It’s going to be really hard for Kendrick to come up with something original. Keep in mind that Kendrick literally just repeated what other rappers have said. Only reason it’s a big deal is because we’ve all been waiting for this beef. Also, Kendrick’s “I hate how you talk” etc. etc. bars are kinda childish. Euphoria was dope though. No hate
How is he winning lol people over hyping Kendrick. It was good but I don’t think it was as good…. I’m a Kendrick fan but I was expecting more ngl I would never bump euphoria after this but push up’s was a banger
