Yes he should have been sent off. I also thought their pen at the end of the 90 shouldn’t have been given as the lad was slipping over already. But we walked out with the cup anyway and tbf, Blues winning it 10 years later suited me fine coz they beat the Arse with that ridiculous winning goal that sums Arsenal up in one moment 😂
i'm still convinced if we didnt do the clinton morrison 4 a.j. plus cash deal, this club's fortunes wouldn't have been so bad ,especially if a.j. hit his palace and everton form for us ....
Before then it was European Cup, English League and League Cup! Liverpool won this treble more than Man Utd could win the new one (Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup!
@@eastlondon4417 It was around but League Cup along with the English League and European Cup was THE TREBLE before Premier League and then only the team that came 1st qualified for European Cup not like today i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th!

Good upload. This game should of been over at half-time from a Liverpool point of view, Birmingham rode their luck just a bit I thought. Although, they much improved second half, and done well to come back into it and force extra time. Birmingham should of had a pen, but, that's football as they say, some you get, some you don't, but should never have got that far in my opinion. Deserved victory for Liverpool overall.
Referee bottles it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bGI_uMuyJ2g.htmlh10m34s, would have been a classic final for the neutrals, David vs Goliath, the underdog coming from behind. No toss of a coin to decide which end to take the shootout. Referee decided to have them at the Liverpool end on safety grounds because he thought (based on what?) Birmingham fans would invade the pitch and so gave Liverpool the advantage in the shootout. Look what happens at the end of the game, Liverpool fans invade the pitch. David Elleray always favoured the bigger club, if Liverpool had been playing Real Madrid he'd be giving everything Madrid's way. Same season Birmingham lose by a penalty shootout to Preston in the play off's, where again there was no toss of a coin to decide which end to take the pens. Safety not taken into consideration it would seem that time as the Preston end was chosen because the other end was empty due to construction works. David Moyes moves to Everton, TF gets the sack later this year, Liverpool win the League cup, FA cup with an extra time goal after Arsenal played them off the park and the UEFA cup on Pens again.
So much wrong with what you say. Where’s your proof of Elleray favouring bigger clubs?. Where’s the proof the end used on these shootouts were decided on safety grounds?. The only thing right is I agree the shootout at Preston should have been at the empty end. And FYI, we didn’t win the FA Cup in extra time after getting outplayed, it was won in the 90 mins. Outplayed?. Yes. Did Arsenal deserve to win?. No. They themselves only scored with 20 minutes left and seemed to settle for that and then bottled it after we equalised with about 8 minutes left. Also FYI, the UEFA Cup wasn’t decided on pens, it was decided by a golden goal in extra time beating an Alaves side that ripped apart Inter Milan in the semis 9-2. As for this penalty, yes it’s a penalty but it’s only clear with a slow motion action replay from the right angle. It’s easy to think in the heat of the moment that Henchoz got a touch instead of Johnson so no, he didn’t bottle it, he just got a marginal decision wrong, one which the replay makes more blatant than it actually was.
Really enjoyed watching this video. I remember the game clearly and being a Birmingham fan - in the Championship; we were desperately unlucky not to win the game. We were immense throughout - especially in extra time where Hughes chipped Westerveld and we should have had another penalty.
