Our daughter went to Humboldt State University and still lives there. We have been there many times. Whenever we go we see the Trees of Mystery and Ferndale. We live in SoCal so we take two days to get there. We do a overnighter in Clear Lake
Passed through Eureka last month and it was quite the pleasant surprise...the historic downtown was delightful... great bagels at Los Bagels, a real Zoltar at Eureka Books (great bookstore), cool murals galore and some gorgeous Victorian architecture.

I've lived in Eureka for over a year and honestly it's great and may be one of the most beautiful places on a sunny day. (it can feel a little scary on a dark gloomy day hahaha) Sometimes though the rain is so gentle and magical. Also Sequioa Park is incredible for all the trails and zoo. All the best!
The zoo? It was free when it was a decent attraction Now they charge to see about 10 different species and a petting zoo Why would you advertise this So ridiculous
I was there earlier. I believe I will visit the trail more often. It’s cool when I have a restaurant delivery and Apple Maps says take the trail. I deliver on a bike.
This is just wrong. 300k for a house? Maybe a place that was a meth lab. 500k is much more like it for a 2 or 3 bedroom. But hey at least you dont have to worry about having a nice car for long since the drug addicts will break right into it. Did i mention how easy it is to get drugs? With all the cartels moving up and taking over people's property to grow drugs on and do human trafficking, this is the mecca of organized crime. Just remember if the sign says public land, make sure you're adept at detecting booby traps since you will find them the hard way if you arent. Catrels are running out of private properties so they just use public land. Be careful of the toxic waste they smuggle up through the southern border to use on their plants, they use a lot of banned substances up there. Better yet just stay in the cities. You people have already ruined the housing market. People who have lived here for generations have to live in tents and in rvs since all the city slickers have bought up everything. Znyone heard how eureka has a per capita murder rate just under oakland? Yeah, that tv show murder mountain is real deal. We dont need anymore godam drug transporting electric cars up here either, we got plenty already. If your thing is government, better be corrupt. Cuz it already is here. Its an awesome place, its the people that fuck it up. Oh btw, the area started in LOGGING AND WHALING, not mining.

The beautiful Crater lake is awesome isn't it ? The lake is sacred to the Klamath tribes of Klamath county and the Klamath rezervation is nearby . The Klamath lake was stolen from the Klamath tribes and the Klamath lake is Too poisonous from insecticide and fertilizer and cow and horse manure every year and dangerous for dogs and children to enter now . The slaughter of several hundred Klamath tribes people was near to downtown Klamath falls and still is denied by racism and bigotry against Red people in Klamath county as Airbnb makes profit from what is supposed to be tribes rezervation land that the government gave to timber corporations and Oregon settler carpet baggers immigrants from "back east" and who still steal national forest service and bureau of land management property that is supposed to belong to the tribe of The Klamath peoples . lol, I just finished a road trip through the southwest, up through CA, ending in Oregon, and I did stop in Eureka, and the tweaker problem is no joke. I was looking for a oil change place, so I parked my car at the end of a street so I could look on my phone, and within about ten seconds, a tweaker came out of the bushes and started circumnavigating my car. It was weird. Finally found an oil change place, and they wanted to charge me $130 for an oil change. Place was called "Down to Earth Automotive", w/ sky-high prices. But anyway, they were everywhere. Everywhere you go, basically there's at least one tweaker in site. I didn't have the best impression of CA. Everything was stupid expensive and either really ritzy or really poor.

The trees are not stripped of their bark 😀 Those are Madrones, and the bugs are probably cicadas. Glad you enjoyed our town <3 I was downtown when that hail storm started and by the time I got home I had to wade through several inches of it to get to my front door!! Lived here almost forty years and never saw anything like it!! The Rogue River Gorge is one of my favorite places to escape the summer heat. Did you eat at Becky's World Famous Cafe ??
