I served three tours as a infantryman in Iraq and I dont remember pissing on anyones hands or beating anyone with guns and batons. Fuck this dude he is anti soldier, not anti war. When my unit detained insurgents we treated them with dignity and followed all the laws of land warfare because we're Americans. Fuck this band and fuck Tim.
Completely true! We should respect our veterans but never ever glorify war. All armies commit atrocities, both back during the world wars and sadly still today.
This was a candy coated way to describe the war I wonder how much more they would get offended if he was more specific but I understand that nobody would listen to it. Thats the problem with Americans they want everything sugar coated in order for them to digest it but don't think twice to ram their sht down your throat and expect some gratitude for it.
No problem with the and, problem with 75% of the people he interviewed for this. POGS ! yes we did have it hard yes it did fucking sick but at the end of our day, it was our fucking job. And nobody will take this away from us
Yo people were much calmer back then. Lol. You can tell just from comment sections. Good old 2011 where people wasted less time yelling at strangers on the internet.
The song depicts war at it's most brutal aspect. However, as an Infantryman that has been through combat I can strongly say not everyone kills a little girl with a white flag. In fact 90% of the time someone waiving a white flag they aren't trying to hide it. A little girl walking towards you and your friends with something held in secret is a BIG RED FLAG. I've never been faced with this particular situation. Yet if I was ever met with that? I'd be shooting that little girl. If a white flag dropped afterwards? Yes my mental state would go way down hill but ultimately I would know I was still in the right. It's either shoot that little girl, or let her walk up to me and my friends with a fucking BOMB. One little girl down, with a platoon of men. Don't blame us for the shit we have to do because THEY send THEIR children out with bombs that often.
Great show, love this song :) check out one of their latest shows in Dublin. It's quite rare to see them on such a small stage > ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Sq_c222HBIg.html
"And If you have a problem with the truth, then you're gonna have a lot of problems with Rise Against." HA BURN BURNNNN SON I love you Tim. And the whole band. Fucking you go, Rise Against! You go. <3 Keep speaking the truth, because I love to hear it. It's just so great someone has an idea about this word. Thank YOU
for those that knock this song, shit happens in the fog of war and the insanity that comes along with... it is what it is... war is hell.. and yes... shit like what is mentioned in this song can and has happened on both sides of the playing field. good song..
On both sides of the playing field? You can zip up and say this stupid comment when America gets invaded by jerk off 18-20 yr old foreigners bombing everything that is most sacred to you because your ego isn't worth the spit that is on the corner of your mouth dude. Gtfoh
@@aapp953 lol you know the Taliban have been going around butchering their own people right? You idiots have no idea what's going on in these countries.
Truth... these events may well have happened but theres no frequency qualifier on any of the issues. Just a song that suggests that every soldier is a child - woman killer. Every soldier is oblivious to the waste of war. Every soldier tortures their captured. Every veteran soldier shouldnt be considered a hero... Which is ludicrous... Unless you have served overseas in dangerous spots (like so many US Soldiers have especially), you don't qualify to comment, judge or otherwise because you cant POSSIBLY know what its like to make that split second decision that could mean your life or theirs. The torture of random people, this may well happen, but it would be a minority. The picture the song paints - its expected of you across the board. Rubbish. The woman with the white flag - Theres no mention of the amount of this soldiers comrades that may have fallen to female suicide bombers which would have had a massive influence on the decision made to open fire on a woman that is rushing you when youre telling them to stop... If you haven't experienced it then you have no idea the stress these guys go through and the decisions they have to make in a split second when their lives are at stake. You might have an opinion... but it will have no substance... Therefore to me these guys are very much heroes. They put themselves through this voluntarily so you don't have to. The basis of the events outlined in this song are from a documentary, then wildly applied to soldiers in general... what a joke.
Well i think that RA didn't want us to take everything as 100% as in, the song isn't saying all soldiers kill all surrendering women, the song is more having a go at the Nature of war in general, it is undeniable that with every war comes a huge violation of what we may call human rights. Sure the soldiers are taking alot of flak, but RA didn't make this song purely for the USA but all soldiers, so this song also goes out to terrorists or freedom fighters. The bottom line is, with war soldiers - no matter who- exercise the power they think they have for the worse, this is a small minority of soldiers (that we know in 1st world countries) but to stop war is to stop these acts.
War will never stop. Its like claiming the sun will never set. As long as there are people willing to take or invoke will by force, be it on individuals or the masses, there will always be war. Its a horrible thing to claim, and I do wish the ideals of those who oppose war could ring true. Bad the sad reality is this. I promise you, due to nothing more than human nature, those people 'the crazies' will always walk among us. If we actively villify those who serve very much as this song does, we risk reducing the pool of people willing to fight those that hate our way of life and ideals. This is not a good thing.
I guess you're right, if we all obey this song and the number of soldiers is reduced, then there will always be those that inore this message, so indeed the fighting will continue, sad world :c
Jaycob The Storyteller the song is about one soldier. The song is called hero of war not Heroes of war. I fucking love anyone that answers the call, and puts their life on the line for me. But I am an American there for it is not just my constitutional right by my duty as an American to question political and military authorities. No one is above reproach. Not me not you and not the "heroes of war." There are no victors in War just survivors. And if any veterans read this thank you for all your sacrifice.
How can you honesty say soldiers are putting their lives on the line to save us... nobody is trying to kill you. And if anyone 'is' trying to kill you it would be because of all the mayhem the US caused in getting involved in all the warfare for the sake of OIL MONEY and GREED. You can respect a soldier because they believe they are doing it for a noble cause, its the intention that counts. But the TRUTH is that soldiers don't decide what happens, despite all their righteous motives ti get involved. If all these soldiers knew what it was they were actually doing the world wouldn't be as fucked as it is.
You don't care for the children that are being used as human shields? Or the innocent families that are being terrorized by isis/the Taliban? But yeah we're only fight for oil right.
The US easily has the firepower to stop terrorism in the Middle East. But.. their goal isn't only that, so they won't do it. US soldiers' lives mean less to the men in power than oil money.
Cruz Ferrer They got their fat hands in Arab oil. The motherfuckers drink it like it's beer. That's why we're here, to protect their profits. You're full of shit. He's full of shit. Who do you think gave Saddam all his fucking weapons? We did!
The truth?! U just stereotyped a majority of the military as thugs for your bleeding heart pathetic liberal self. How about how most of the troops are serving and putting their lives on the line so u can site safely at home makin millions off the music you write, and by their own choice not to say. The truth in war is that the soldiers come across people daily that would cut their throats if they look the wrong way, or blow themselves up to kill you. The only people in the military complaining about being put in harms way are the ones that joined for a free ride, and not for patriotic reasons and to defend liberty and freedom. Shame on you for generalizing a small minority for the real heroes out there in harms way.
Bro calm down. The song was specifically sympethising with soldiers, talking about how recruits often join as ignorant as a child, but later learn the devastating effects of war. At least listen to the song before you bash it.
***** loooooooooooooooooooool you "sing" metal hahahahahahaha cool story bro If you sing metal then I'm Freddie fucking Mercury. omg hahahaha "I sing metal" - that's a good one
***** yeah, because he totally didnt destroy his voice already. Hear them live after 2010. You're a fool to think singing like that doesn't affect your voice at all. And I'm a biologist, in case you think your "metal singing" is better evidence.

Well actually if hes using proper tech this wont hurt him at all, hes a tenor, the top note of the chorus is an Bb4 , a decently obtainable high note for a tenor , considering alot can reach up to c5 and even d5+. All he is doing is adding rasp to it and pushing it from his diaphragm so yeah...... your kind of wrong and kind of right, just depends on if hes using good tech
