This video validated how I feel about Cognitive Assessment 1 class! I completed my first check out and admin, about to complete my 2nd, and about to type my first psychological report (for the WJ!) It was definitely a class that one has to be on top of to not fall behind, but Im grateful for the support systems I have and a good/helpful teachers assistant too! Thank you for that validation and the planner idea is definitely great!! I bought one for this year and one for next year! So excited to continue my first year as a specialist student in School Psych! Your videos are for sure motivating. I’m also hungry now after watching you and your friend eat! LOL!! Thank you both for sharing your experiences!!!
ABA therapy should be outlawed you wouldn't put your dog through the same kind of training I have ASD-2 I love being autistic I wouldn't change anything about myself as I would not be the person that I am today I am a 56 year old woman with autism granted my life wasn't easy it was a bit of a struggle I'm not going to lie I may not have a lot of friends but the ones I have seem to be really good quality friends and has lasted for many years we are not broken we don't need fixed we don't need pity although a little understanding would help us get along a lot better don't treat us like we are brainless or infantile just be patient with us we do take a little longer to process information as we are constantly getting bombarded by information we see the world in a completely different way as our minds are wired differently than every other person other than another autistic person we are not a shell of a human to be molded whatever way you see fit guy that invented ABA was a lunatic that kind of therapy doesn't do anything but cause the child to feel like they're wrong feel like they're hated disliked and teaches them to be nothing more than a puppet a subservient lower class and unworthy human and we're not we should be taught to embrace our autism and use what we are good at are special interests are hyper focus things we are just plain interested in doing and will go much further because of most neurotypical people I spent 56 years thinking I was worthless that I was not good at anything and just playing good for nothing which I learned that I was autistic at age 56 and just had a different way of thinking which means I'm still a perfectly good human being I just have a different way of thinking and that I'm a good person and that I'm also good at some things and not as good at other things and I don't have to be so hard on myself and love myself more for just being me and and I really enjoy art music although I can't play any instrument I like video games found out I'm quite good at them but I still wouldn't change a thing about myself I would not get rid of the autism that I have as it is a part of me it makes me who I am so I have one more thing left to say just help the autistic kids be the best kids they can be by letting them be themselves as they are not broken and they're not a puzzle to be fixed they should just be loved for who they are a perfectly good autistic person
Help, how do you become a school psychologist? like what are the degree titles' you need to earn.. & are the requirements the same to be a school counselor? not sure how much of a difference :/ tyyyy!
Also, you can get your licensed education psychologist (LEP) license and have a private practice but maybe this applies to CA? Is this also needed to become an independent school psychologist?
Hey Tiffany! thanks for sharing this video! I was wondering how you create these videos on RU-vid? Do you record via Zoom and upload the video? I have a podcast and wanted to try this method. Thanks! -Elsie
I work in education. I love it. I hate too at some points, but overall, I am proud of what I do. I will begin my masters program soring 2025, psychology.
Looking to start my masters program in the spring of 2025, masters in psychology. I am lucky to have a thorough background working in education. I came here for the information! I feel you on those school breaks throughout the school year.
Couple questions as I’m looking to pick this as gsce options ect!! - what are work hours like? - what is the salary like? -how expensive is the education n stuff to get to the job? (Idk if that makes sense lol) If you don’t want to answer them then dw!
@@DuolingoBirdiee hours are like teachers typically! Mine is 8-3 😊 salary really depends on the state you’re in (I made a tiktok about this before stating the different ranges). You’re looking anywhere from 40-100k starting. Education can be expensive! I would definitely look into NASP approved programs in your area to get an idea
Hi Tiffany! I started seeing your videos after watching MrsSchoolPsych’s videos and the vid you both did. Your information and here motivated me/was so helpful in my application process. I just got accepted to a school psych program (specialist program) and was wondering if it’d be possible to connect via email or IG message. I didn’t want to follow on IG without first asking! I believe you mentioned being in ESOL (English for Students who speak other Languages) and as someone who is a bilingual professional /was in ESOL herself, it’s motivating to see you in the field. I’m also a first time mom and would love to know your tips on juggling this program and a child! :)
Hi this is amazing! I am applying to Columbia this year and just wanted to know… what your gpa was, mins is 3.46 and I haven’t taken the GRE, any tips for gre and how long did you study for ? Also what should I add on my resume that will make it more competitive, I don’t have research experience but I’ve been a behavior therapist for 5 years. Btw love your videos ❤
We spent the 60s, the 70s, the 80s, the 90s dismantling systemic racism in the U.S. yet there still is racism because racism is a SOCIAL DISEASE that is generally taught in the home. Reject racism. By the way, Black Lives Matter turned out to be a money grab.
I loved the interview! Your videos have motivated and inspired me through the depths of application season last year. This Fall I’ll be starting my PhD in School Psych! 😍 Thank you so much for putting in the time to create these amazing videos for us ❤
Aspiring School Psychologist here!! I fallow Julianna and I actually live in the same state as her ♥️ State of Ohio My two programs I hope to get accepted into are U Dayton Go Flyers and UC Cincinnati Go Cats
It really hurts mentally to 'like" listen to this and "like" pay attention because " like" I hear alot of "like" words that should not be there .....and it makes those who are " like " talking sound very " like " uneducated and " like" uncomfortable with what they are talking about and " like" not so sure about what they are " like" talking about......
Around the 28-29 minute mark you mention burnout from the job, and you're getting paid, as non-autistic adults, to do it. And whom are you doing the ABA to, against their will? Kids with far less capacity to do the hours, over long periods of time, even if it were not otherwise abusive to autistics in so many ways. At the end of the day, you have the ability to go home and get away from it, and quit if you're tired. The poor kids subjected to it don't even have hoke as their safe place away from it, and their only "escape" is compliance. Meanwhile, it eats all their time they could be learning how to be a kid, a severely undervalued learning situation.
It’s important to acknowledge that people in this field sometimes feel overwhelmed and in need of support, even though we chose this path to help children. We strive to empower kids with essential life skills, with the consent and trust of their parents. I can’t speak for everyone but we often incorporate ABA practices into fun activities or daily routines, like getting ready for school or prepping a snack.
Tiffany, thank you for all that you’ve done on this channel! I have been watching you for years, and I got accepted to a school psych program in VA for this next year :) You have helped me so much on this journey!
